  • Short spine syndrome is a condition that affects the formation of a developing spine

Jimothy would be a perfect GOP congresscritter or senator.

  • to raise money amid government budget cuts.

    Or... marmot fetish.

Remember the old adage: if you can think of a kink, however bizarre, it's on the internet. If you can't, it's probably on the internet also.

  • This dude should be run out of office. He's not doing the work the taxpayer pays him to do.

  • Don't think for one second it's for any reason other than companies being faced with rising token costs and realizing human workers who desperately need a job are easy to exploit for less money.

  • Trump's logic falls flat on its face, and even the most dimwitted magat can understand this:

If the US elections are fraudulent, then he won the presidency twice fraudulently.

Also, you'll notice he's not investigating the 2016 or the 2024 elections.

  • Trump preparing a coup? Nah, he'd never do that. Where did you get that idea?

  • The Heritage Foundation, billionaires / trillionaires and their white nationalist puppets - chief of which is the orange stain currently soiling the White House.

If some of them are closeted gays is probably totally irrelevant.

  • I'm pretty sure the biggest problem in the US is the full-steam-ahead rolling out of fascism. But what do I know...

  • That's just the name of US customary units: they're usually called standard. Just like the old British customary units were called imperial when there hasn't been a British empire for quite a few decades.

  • I have a DGX Spark at work (a Gigabyte AI TOP ATOM). I use it mainly to run local LLMs for coding, translation and generic technical questions, but I also use it fairly regularly to model semi-complex stuff in Blender, and render long 360° videos.

I really like this little machine: it's dead quiet, it's a decently useful AI assistant for "non-vibe coding" - i.e. using AI to code sample code, boilerplates and fix tiny code snippets without letting it do anything complex or have access to any important files - it's a great Blender box and it's an okay video renderer for an arm64 machine.

It is fairly disappointing for video rendering, but that's mainly because I use kdenlive and kdenlive is not great with hardware acceleration, and my 360° videos are too large / non-standard aspect ratio to be rendered in the GPU anyway. Still, it manages to render 4096x2048 videos at around 15 frames per second in CPU-only. Not too shabby.

The box wasn't cheap though - just north of 5k€. But I suspect a lot of that price is the cost of RAM. Also, I don't care since it was company money.

But at some point, I'd like to buy one for myself at home: the ability to use it to OCR sensitive paper mail and translate the letters locally without hitting fucking Google or Microsoft servers and sending them private information alone is well worth the money, and I need a new Blender machine at home anyway. But I haven't done it yet because, well... 5k€ is kind of yikes when I'm the one paying 🙂

  • Yet somehow Celsius seems to speak to everybody outside the United States just fine.

  • Well, I'm convinced...

  • Norms may be dumb but they make everybody's lives easier when everybody follows them.

As for temperature specifically, there's nothing inherently better in Celsius or Fahrenheit. It's just a choice. The only unit that is superior to all of them is the Kelvin because it has a true zero, but it's not commonly used in everyday settings.

  • Which units are best doesn't matter: the point is, nobody else uses standard units anymore, apart from a couple oddball countries, and only one of them - North Korea - isn't trying to extricate itself from it.

Everybody else tries to be a part of the world's technical and scientific communities by speaking the same language, but of course America has to be different. Because of course it does... And it's tiring if you ask me.

  • Americans have compatibility issues with the rest of the world, and it's not getting any better - in more ways than this one.

  • I didn't watch, because of corrupt FIFA and Temu Hitler

  • Just like in Germany in the 30s.

  • I was just describing why the fuzz don't touch ICE officers. I wasn't advocating anything.
