Sanctions and kicking troops out would all but guarantee a US intervention, especially because we respect the 1951 agreement which means the US has a direct right to build and maintain bases on Greenland and have done so for 75 years. We're trying to respect international law, not undermine it.
If you think the EU or Denmark sanctioning or taking aggressive action against the US does anything but bring misery to ourselves you're politically naive. It'd be the exact pretext the hawks surrounding the president needs.
Now, if anything does happen re Greenland I expect we'll start selling off US bonds, as would many other countries. That usually has Trump backing down pretty quickly as interest rates rise.
That said,, Greenland is a semi-sovereign nation within the Danish commonwealth, so they can choose to accept a US deal offering them e.g. a free association agreement or something like that, but most recent polls show 85% of Greenlanders are against a deal with the US.
I was laughing at all these weird dishes when it occurred to me that the fruit-based ones sound a lot like a dish here in Denmark with fresh fruit and 'råcreme' which is egg yolks and sugar whipped with vanilla, then gently mixed with whipped cream.
It makes little sense to think of language outside of communities, so if a speech community uses a word in a certain way then it's correct in that context.
Of course, most states find it useful to establish an official variant. It is usually based on whatever the ruling class speaks, and is claimed to be 'correct', but there are no objective linguistic criteria which make it possible to say that Parisian French is more correct than e.g. Haitian French.
Right, thanks for clarifying 🙂 I agree, don't use extra virgin for frying. Still, I don't think it gives off bitter flavours whatever you do unless you treat it really bad.
In Denmark, we traditionally cook using butter, but I like to use whatever fits the dish I am doing.
If the whole Mediterranean region cooks with oil that way they're not "off flavours", are they? Then they're just the flavours of the regional cuisine.
I was circumcised at 40 for medical reasons, due to phimosis. That was a blessing after several years of issues with having normal intercourse and having little operations done that were ultimately ineffective.
Anyway, it's definitely different and I am much less sensitive. I definitely prefer being uncircumcised, just not, you know, with phimosis.

My dad was occasionally beaten by his mom and dad in the 1950s and 60s, but his generation decided it was over with, and it also became illegal in the 90s. We're in Denmark.

Though, being Danish, I have a national duty to say that Denmark didn't conquer Norway, it was inherited by a king around 1400 and then developed into a full union in 15-something when the Swedes left the Kalmar Union. It was a dual monarchy, effectively one country, ruled from Copenhagen and standard Danish was no more forced on the Norwegians than it was forced on other Danes speaking a dialect of Danish.
The union was dissolved in 1814 when Napoleon (who was allied to Denmark), lost his wars and Norway was given to Sweden. After 100 years under Swedish rule, Norway was finally independent.
It's been something of a national need in Norway to emphasize all the bad things under the dual monarchy, but in truth Norwegians and Danes were completely equal. Look up any major historical or cultural figure from the era and there's a good chance he came from what is now Norway, most of the navy was Norwegian and so on. I understand the need to find someone to other so that the national identity grows stronger, but it's a pity it's become a narrative of Danish exploitation when that's completely false.
I say equal, that goes for the political class and nobility, the peasants in both countries were of course almost completely powerless 😉
