I don’t want to get my hopes up, but there is a very real possibility that there’s a lot of cognitive dissonance building up in the base between what their parents and society taught them was being a decent fucking human being and all the stances they’ve had to rationalize in order to believe they’re right to have supported Trump. That tension makes them unhappy and makes them double down on the more immediate, more personal decisions again and again.
But once you give them an out, a way to justify a correction to say “well I was for him when he was just ‘telling it like it is’ but now that I found out he’s a pedophile, well now mama didn’t raise me to let a sin like that slide…”
To this day, I remember from probably twenty years ago or more seeing something on SomethingAwful that included the name “HPHovercraft” and it’s just the greatest. I’ll never forget it.
I was mildly obsessed. It felt like the future! I miss technology like that. I’m kinda excited for all this AR stuff people are talking about because I haven’t really been excited by the latest and greatest shiny black rectangle in a long time.
You replied to “It was modified to make these kinds of responses much more likely” with the rebuttal that it’s “statistical”. When something has a varying degree of likelihood, that’s exactly what statistical means.
I don’t think we wrested Florida from the jaws of the deep. I think the deep left it on our doorstep and ditched. We’re stuck with it unless we can pawn it off on the moon or something.
But they said AFTER shitting their pants, so really we’re just hoping two drug-addled fuckheads very reasonably shit themselves before dying so there’s insult added to injury.
