  • Doubtful. More than likely the EU just pays or they go to war and occupy Britain. Billions either way.

And if Iran can do it and Britain could do it, then Spain can do it.

If rail could replace shipping, it’d have already done so. In Mexico they’ve proposed a rail line to bypass the Panama Canal and it’d do just a fraction of the Canal’s volume.

  • His dementia would have to severely deteriorate his mind to the point that he was completely different person for him to backtrack now.

He’s already been told that if the straight remains closed and the bombings continue that he risks a global depression, and Trump loves to talk trade. Surrendering is him trying to salvage what little he has left to lose.

He could change his mind on everything but this. This is where the stakes are too high and he can’t afford to lose anymore ground.

  • Dems don’t want to sell that reality. They want to whip up their base to vote harder so that they can squander another supermajority on something dumb, like giving Israel more arms to genocide. Then Israel re-initiates the Iran war so that the can Dems can be in charge of losing.

  • If Iran can do it, then Turkey can as well

  • EVs beat me up and killed my dog.

  • Truly, we are a decadent empire.

  • Stay on your high horse, looking down on everyone. I said I was going to vote and now you’re discouraging me? You must really want me to vote and see Talarico win. Or are you a Ken Paxton fan?

  • Talarico is nothing special and I don’t believe in voting, but the opportunity to end Paxton’s career is too great to pass up. Seeing him lose is worth showing up to the polls for.

  • The most over leveraged people just found out that modern technology requires energy. No energy = no technology. They came up with a dumb way to waste energy right before an energy crisis. Good job. Have fun recycling all your special AI chips, dumdums.

  • Compares dead protesters with genocide and makes other false equivalencies.

I know better than to follow politicians and support their wars. If you want to support Palestinians, then engage in boycotts and demand the US stops giving material support to the Israeli military. If you wanted to help Iranians, then you should’ve opposed tariffs.

If the peace deal holds, then the tariffs will be lifted, meaning that the Iranian government will have won back better conditions for their people with this war. That’s what victory for Iran means: no tariffs and money to rebuild to create better conditions for regular Iranians.

Iran is up and you’re complaining you didn’t get to bomb them more. We really are different.

  • There was absolutely no reason to go to war with Iran. Killing protesters happens everywhere and is never an excuse to bomb a country or invade them. War is a form of terrorism and should always have a meaningful (and achievable) political objective that benefits the state engaging in it.

There are no humanitarian wars. Intervening in domestic politics implies that Iranians are children who cannot govern themselves. They vote. They have a democracy. Their society will move according to the conditions they live in.

We have had an oversized impact on Iranian life through our tariffs. We do more to undermine Iranian life with our economic policies than the leaders of Iran do with their governance. When we hear protesters used as an excuse for war, we become part of a conspiracy to further undermine Iranian democracy through escalation, when we should have been calling to better Iranian life by putting an end to tariffs.

  • Carrier pigeon.

  • If Iran wants nukes, that’s fine. Israel has nukes and they aren’t giving them up. Iran having nukes would be an India-Pakistan situation with two opposing countries having nukes. They’ve kept that status quo for 60+ years.

Iran being a stable country infuriates Israel and the United States, but left alone it will modernize (in most ways it already has) and things will be fine.

  • Turn off your computer. Reject technology and return to analog life.

  • Data centers deserve zero tax breaks. They’re flush with investor cash and should be forced to pay for any additional infrastructure costs to power and cool themselves.

  • They can only use slurs that refer to people with their condition, like cr**ple.

  • He probably uses the n-word so frequently, he’d have to be put through some sort of Clockwork Orange reconditioning program.

  • I’m certain that everyone who watched Elon Musk buy Twitter understood that allowing hate speech was what he meant by “Free Speech.” Seeing this headline years later just signals to me that the UK plans to block or fine Twitter in the near term.
