  • The event, organized by bar-owner Mark Fitzpatrick and held at Cecil D. Andrus Park across from the Idaho State Capitol [...] Fitzpatrick reportedly rushed the stage and took the microphone from Hamrick and then got into a scuffle with another attendee[...]

“He sang a song with lyrics that go against our values.”

What a hate-filled loser. His "values" are discriminating against and hurting people who are different from him.

  • Your post was about a friend who's "transracial" (your term), not trans in the sense that they identify as a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth. Plus, you use the term "trans" to refer to that identity like it's a universally-accepted conclusion and just as accepted as the other use of trans. You also insult those who don't agree with this, call them transphobic, and accuse anyone who disagrees of brigading (with no evidence). While not personally included in either group, my understanding is that this point of view is very controversial and could be considered offensive to people from one, both, or neither community. Again, no opinion on the content, but I believe that's part of why it didn't resonate with people reading it.

TLDR: It's controversial because it's controversial.

  • I won't get in one because I'm not giving a single dollar of business to Musk. He can go jump up his own asshole.

  • You don't understand. Musk likes how they look, we can't disturb that for "safety"!

  • I get what you're saying, but the "four boxes of liberty" are about freedom. People were free to talk about how bad Trump would be, and they did. The 2024 election was free and fair (until we have proof it wasn't). Federal courts have struck down many things the Trump administration has attempted. Liberty isn't inevitable, it has to be fought for. As a country "We the People" failed, not our institutions.

  • I agree with you that there was voter suppression and gerrymandering but in no way were those insurmountable. We chose all this chaos and lawlessness.

If "Did Not Vote" was a candidate:

  • Linux Mint is probably the most popular "beginner friendly" distribution currently, and for good reason! There's a ton of community support and documentation if you get stuck on something.

  • The ballot box didn't fail. People decided they wanted this by either voting Republican or not at all.

  • The cruelty is the point.

  • I hate when I forget to brush my bats!

  • Last 2 years Lemmy only. Sure, it's not as active as Reddit, but that's probably a good thing. If you run out of content on "active", look at "hot", and maybe "new"...

  • What, just because they're making it clear it's not "protect & serve", but instead "us vs. them"?

It's The Coward's Swastika ". Pretty much anyone who flies it is racist and a bootlicker. They're just afraid to fly the Nazi or Confederate flag...

  • Amazing.

  • Remember, we're paying them to house our deportees in nightmare conditions, almost all of whom have never committed a crime.

  • The time to come together in unity and compassion was the election. That's long since passed now. He showed everyone exactly who he was while campaigning for his first presidency, and every single second since then.

If you were still unsure about his leadership qualities, his first presidency was filled with him throwing others under the bus, telling blatant, significant lies with every speech, betraying our allies for political gain, bungling the pandemic response and needlessly destroying hundreds of thousands of lives, spending more time golfing than doing his job, and concluded with him attempting to overturn the election by pressuring states, participating in an illegal scheme that involved fake electors, and inciting an insurrection at the nation's capitol. Oh, and he was impeached twice.

But if racism is the final straw for you to stop supporting this draft-dodging, ableist, lying, rapist, 34-count convicted felon, great; but that was on display, too. He called places with brown and black populations "shithole countries", issued a ban on immigration from Muslim countries, criticized Puerto Rico and dragged his feet on helping them after a devastating hurricane, pardoned Arizona racist Joe Arpaio, convicted for his illegal "worst pattern of racial profiling in US history" (DoJ), harshly cracked down on peaceful Black Lives Matter protestors, including tear-gassing them at a church to disperse them and use the location as a photo-op.

I won't go through all the examples, but the end result is if you voted for him in 2024, you either ignored or approved of his racism. Unfortunately, it's now affecting many innocent people, some of whom you know...

  • I'm going to need to pull you into a meeting real quick so we can discuss this attitude.
