  • I can cook just fine, but I really prefer baking. With cooking you have to make sure you are there watching it the whole time. I love how with baking I can just mix it up in a bowl, pour it in a pan, and cook it for an hour in the oven.

I don't know what value my comments adds to this discussion, just wanted to share my love of baking ig.

  • Well there is no medical need for pedophilia, in fact its a terrible thing. No good person would disagree. However, HRT is not morally wrong, and is often medically necessary.

  • I feel there is no good reason to artificially limit your number of romantic/sexual partners to 1. I do, however, think there are good reasons for monogamy such as lowering risk of STDs or if you don't have the mental capacity to care for two partners. However, if you can make it work, I don't see any issue with polyamory.

  • Personally I'd never encourage suicide, but I also don't think its morally wrong, and I think it is morally wrong to stop it by force. At the end of the day, people have bodily autonomy, no matter how tragically they use it.

  • I would say that capitalism does seem like paradise, but as soon as you think even slightly deeper it's terrible. Sure it's great for everyone to be able to choose where to work or not work, and to have many different options on what to buy, but it falls apart rather quick. People often don't have much of a choice of where to work and they are forced to participate in capitalism to survive, which means abusive employers run rampant. And as far as product choice, it seems great, but with infinite growth we will run out of resources to continue.

  • I think rescuing animals is good, but continuing to breed them is absolutely morally wrong

  • antinatalism is gross

    Why so?

  • "sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something"

Exactly, medicine exists to fix something. What Trump is doing is substance abuse.

  • Meanwhile my (college btw) teacher suggests us to use ChatGPT if we need help. Bro wants to replace himself.

  • I was looking at the picture, zoomed in on the strangely placed paw and then was like "holy shit that's another one"

  • What is religion? Philosophy

I wish people just saw religion as a metaphor, but they really do believe there is a god and act accordingly even though there is no evidence of any gods existing.

  • The training for the models still requires massive data centers, ai has caused data center power usage to double in the last five years

That's a good argument for stopping the training of AI models, but the models we have are here to stay.

The personal impact is the artist that does not want their art used this way.

Maybe they shouldn't have publicly released their art to the world if they didn't want people or machines to make things similar to it. Copying is not theft, I think Nina Paley is right about that.

  • Honestly I think whatever this Ghibli trend is about, it's just good advertisting for the real Studio Ghibli.

  • It's a good read, but I'm not sure if it's a good take. This seems very emotionally-driven and not really logical. Someone could make low quality Ghibli style images by hand in large quantities. Is that just as bad?

  • The environmental impact argument doesn't really work anymore now that you can produce AI generated images on a standard gaming PC. Also I'm not sure what you mean by "personal impact". I can understand "social impact" but if the person generated the image themselves, I assume they would enjoy it and not have a negative personal impact from it.

  • This isn't very old lol. That computer could be from 2010 and CD's and Sharpies were used then. Also, LimeWire was functional until like late 2010.

  • standard Google keyboard on my Pixel, nothing fancy

The issue is that I am using something fancy.

  • Well there is no em dash or en dash key on the mobile keyboard. And there isn't a ... key either.
