  • I had a cat, Tiger, who was around 5 when he got into someone's pesticide in the neighborhood. I immediately took him to the vet when I found him, and they helped him out. He was fine for the most part, but it took some time and some stress to get there. When he came home, the little guy constantly drooled after that, always held his head a little crooked, and always struggled with his balance when doing something.

    But he never let it stop him.

    He always followed me, and when I was outside he was constantly jumping up and down from things, playing with me, chasing squirrels or butterflies (he was a really, really bad hunter. He rarely caught anything, even before the incident.) I tried my best to give him a good life, even despite the damage he endured. He was really happy, and he didn't act differently afterwards, with the exception of getting annoyed with me for making him stay inside.

    My point is, despite this little girl's trauma, she may pull through and have an amazing life. In my experiences, pets with special needs, or that have been through a lot, can have incredibly fulfilling lives that ultimately teach and humble you.

  • Thank you. Semiconductor technology has been due for a big technological innovation for a while now, and not just for economic diversification.

    The current economic situation is indicative of that. If there had already been more competition across the globe creating external pressure, maybe we'd have more breakthroughs and we wouldn't be seeing such a strong economic and technological bottleneck

  • I've been there in August, and it and the rest of the PNW is uncomfortable in Summer. But as someone from Mississippi, nowhere in the US has the heat and humidity mixture that the Gulf States do.

    From June to September, it feels like you're breathing in a full sauna when you step outside. You never cool off, you just learn to tolerate always being wet and wondering if it's sweat or moisture in the air that condensed on your skin

  • Old-school Star Fox had the best model, but the graphics in the middle photo are hands down the best of the three.

    I remember thinking in the early 2000s that more polygons = better graphics, but that absolutely began changing when gaming went into the Xbox One / PS4 era. Especially now, I just want games that are well optimized and allow for more settings customization.

  • Yep. When I visit my girlfriend's family in Peru, I get looks because I'm mixed Caucasian (white skin but some asian features) and definitely not Latino. When I stayed in Germany, or visited Austria or Switzerland, I did not get the same looks or attitudes. I've been around, and I've found a lot of people's initial attitudes towards you depends on how similar or different you are to them at face-value.
