  • I know I'm not the standard pokemon fan, but showdown still exists if you just like to battle. The in-game gameplay of pokemon has always been a little lackluster to me and I don't like VGC/doubles.

    ROM hacks can be fun, and I have done some self imposed challenge runs. I can't see myself finishing any of the Prof oak challenges I did without emu speedup.

  • Yesterday I type "what" into my search engine and within the top 5 was "what is a tariff". Import tax would make too much sense and people wouldn't stand behind it if it was referred to as such.

    I get that tariff is the correct word and I understand what they are, but I am sure people like my dipshit cousins had no clue until a few days ago.

  • I was at the zoo a few years ago when Aldabra Tortoises were fucking. It was that but a few octaves lower, and you could hear it from the start of the section. If you imaging what a large turtle fucking would sound like in some dumb sex comedy movie, it was exactly that.

  • I've been trying to introduce people to Jazzcore for the last few years. Check out Last Exits self titled album or anything of John Zorn's Painkiller and some of Naked City's work.

    Edit: Realized I didn't say anything about the genre. It's a fusion genre incorporating hardcore punk, metal and free/improvisation jazz. Slightly different from Jazz Punk which always seems closer to mathrock than jazz to me.

  • My mom got me my first one in 2019 or 2020 because she thought it was cute (Guyfolye from Silicon Valley). A few months later she asked me if they were just Beanie Babies and I thought that was the end of it. Now every Christmas I get one even though she knows I don't like them and we both snark on the super niche weird ones. She even got custom ones for me and my wife last year. It never ends, and I have 6 sets of beady little eyes staring at me when I'm watching TV in the basement.

  • Metal for the most part now. One of my cousins got into woodworking over lockdown and said I could borrow whatever I need from her (as long as she's not using it)

    Torque and breaker bar are my top contenders for stuff I will be using in the foreseeable future
