  • And why do so many philensteins have Bernie’s mountain dogs?

  • To each their own. I don’t want to see ads on my devices, so I only browse apps or sites where there are no ads or ad blockers can effectively hide them. I don’t want to see idiotic and offensive content in my feed, so I block communities, users, and instances from whom I don’t expect to miss hearing from. I started my lemmy with the same disappointment that OP is describing here. The best advice I got was to block the crazies. It worked. The ability to QC the feed is what makes lemmy worthwile imo, otherwise it would be a flood of spam and propaganda, like the rest of social media.

  • Wow, thanks for the in depth reply, fun to read!

  • A Panda Express in china would be hilarious.

  • HP bar, level, and whether they have aggro

  • Especially if they never invest it…40 years (what I would call typical number of wage earning years) is a long time to sit on the sidelines. If one starts investing early, it’s basically impossible to be in the negative by retirement. Nothing even remotely like that ever happened, at least in modern times.I never understand why people think that the stock market down 20% year over year is a life changing disaster.

  • If by AI you refer to chat bots powered by large language models, as it became common, then the question doesn’t make sense, because those can say anything and everything and its opposite.

  • A Windows that could run Office and Adobe software for work without giving the user brain damage? Sounds like a nice idea, maybe could even compete with Mac.

    • who was talking about medieval? The middle ages ended in the 15th century, OP is talking about a family recipe, op is probably less than 600 years old.
    • potatoes were locally grown, not imported. Just because the plant originated from overseas, the crops were not brought in in mass. Saying that potatoes were luxury imported items in Europe is like saying American cowboys who had horses were richer than the richest king, just because horses were not indigenous to America
    • chickens were broadly eaten as the weekend meat for the family dinner in rural farming communities in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is very common meat, and in italy it is the least fancy meat compared to pork or beef or horse

  • Let me guess- you’re not European.Source: you don’t seem to know much about Europe

  • 4chan? I don’t know if it’s still around. I’d guess nobody except a clinically psychotic dude locked up in a basement with nothing just a computer would read a forum like that though.

  • Depends on the bank and the type of account. I have an accont that had 0 balance and 0 activity for years, and it’s still open. I had an other account closed for inactivity (with decent prior notice). In another case, I have received an email from the bank that due to inactivity, I can either close the account or they will start charging a monthly fee.

  • Except that this is defined in the law, this is why healthcare providers are advised by their legal teams not to do it.

  • I would be interested in the reverse: a service that regularly scrapes a list of google photos shared albums and saves the new pictures to immich.

  • As most answers talk about writing, pretending that the question is a valid one, I suggest to take a step back. Crossing the ts and dotting the is is a saying, originating from times when penmanship was important in making good impressions in correspondence. Today, people use this saying because it is a common and short way to describe a certain type of activity without getting into specifics. People today don’t use this saying because crossing ts is always on their mind. Your question is like asking: when you look the gift horse in the mouth, what are you exactly looking for? And then lemmy users stating to make up stories how they one day actually got a gift horse but before accepting it they wanted to make sure vet bills wouldn’t be crazy high.

  • That’s not how it works. I would have a bunch of new dicks by now if it was rebuilt every 8 years, but I am still stuck with the old one.

  • Sure, but daily changes in account value are not money lost. Sry for being too serious but there’s something about characterizing responsible financial planning as gambling that annoys me.

  • What is priceless about Reddit is its reach. In real discussions on niche topics, you get a volume and diversity of viewpoints that are simply not available here. However, they have the algorithm, so you have to doomscroll through hours of low effort noise to occasionally bump into a good post.
