    for the record when people say 'Death to America' it's wishing an end to the American government and its settler-colonial state apparatus.

    Concern about the 'fall of Western civilization' is more often than not a dog whistle signalling reactionary politics.

    It's laughable because it's both attempting to be draconian and implemented poorly

  • In fact I am not aware of any particular reason to avoid running PieFed, but anyway even presuming that such exists, defederation is definitely not among them.

    The injection of the developers biases into the software, the misleading error messages, and the block behavior behaving like a shadow ban are more than enough reasons to not touch the software.

    I can't confirm, but the message makes me think it's because the community doesn't allow video links as posts

    Elon Musk is a nazi, I don't think anyone disagrees, but it was because the post directly linked to a video rather than an article that it was likely removed.

    You were minimizing past genocides of indigenous people simply because those have already been completed. You deserved the ban, and it was temporary.

  • I think having open modlogs is great for transparency.

    People will routinely play innocent after saying gross shit, getting rid of the record will only make it harder to call out bad actors.

    I prefer the way blocks work, if someone is talking shit they cant just block the people calling them out.

    Lemmy.World censors a bit, when it comes to calls for violence against rich people

    They are pretty heavy with the censorship if you're pro palestine from what I've found.

    My experience with .world was getting banned for 'trolling' from their news comm as retaliation by a mod that I had banned from /c/transgender for posting a matt walsh video, making fun of people with neopronouns.

    As a anarchist I have plenty of reservations about both the USSR and China. In terms of internet communities I personally find ML spaces much less annoying than social democrat dominated spaces.

  • there's a user (cm0002) who is so fervently anti-communist that they've spent years at this point having a vendetta with lemmy.ml/grad/hexbear.

    for the longest time they were taking anything posted to a .ml community vias rss feed and reposting it on .world/or other instances out of spite

    they also churn through accounts, so people who block them get to re-block them on every new account they spin up

  • didn't downvotes you, but broadly speaking the way liberal gets used by Marxists/anarchists, it's referring to the people who still think we should have/reform capitalism. social Democrats are the left wing of that.

    'leftist' is bit of a squishy term because it doesn't actually distinguish people's position on the political economy
