  • The best argument I've heard against Dems filibustering the CR is that a filibuster would mean that they would - in the eyes of the public - take responsibility for the shutdown, and that the public would blame them for EVERYTHING wrong with the country now, including all of the Trump/Musk messes.

Which is insane to me. Allowing the CR to go through would cause much more direct harm, show that the Dems don't really care about opposing this insanity, and - if we're worried about PR - allow the GOP to blame future problems on Biden since they're marketing the CR as a continuation of Biden's budget when it's really nothing of the sort.

This is precisely the time to use the filibuster. If the GOP wants to remove it, let them. They'll own it, and if the Dems ever get back into power, it'll help them tremendously.

  • Thank you!

(Though, to be fair, I'm not sure how much they deserve to be thanked for undoing a change that should never have been made in the first place.)

  • I mean, it's the logical consequence of their argument that abortion is murder. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, and it's why Dobbs was so disturbing.

Unfortunately, most people just didn't give a damn.

  • It's like every company that wasn't complete shit just suddenly decided to...go to complete shit.

  • Don't worry, RFK is here to make everything better!

  • Bastards.

  • AMA request: Someone from the 29% of Trump voters who are in FAVOR of Medicaid cuts.

  • Honestly, no. I actually prefer a bit of background noise.

  • It's not just Trump and Musk. Remember, there are two supposedly co-equal branches of government that could step in here.

The entire Republican party is complicit in this.

  • They couldn't be more cartoonishly evil if they tried.

  • It's worrying that this isn't as high on Lemmy (or Reddit) as it should be. We all knew this was going to happen, but still, isn't this more important than articles about Trump's humiliation?

I mean, I get it, there's some serious schadenfreude there, but as with last time around, Trump's clown antics are distracting from the serious damage that's going on directly behind him.

  • Wasn't that part of the point?

  • Yeah, if I hadn't been so committed to Rexit, I doubt I would have stuck around long enough to find a UX that I liked. Just to name one, it'd be nice if MLMYM were a default skin.

  • Not sure why anyone is surprised...they're all bootlicking corporations that don't want the mob boss to fuck with their mergers and/or investigate them for their various crimes.

  • She is very concerned.

  • I am positive...positive!...that Apple will be sure to address this issue and take responsibility for any harm that may come out of it.

  • AMA request: Someone who genuinely believes that Trump's cabinet will be anti-Wall Street.
