  • In my experience most guys who work out, eat clean and get lots of exercise are super conscious of not being "That guy" at their gym, running spots or wherever they go to get their workout on. They also dont tend to have to do a lot of work to meet women outside of that environment. If a guy is handsome, employed and is generally polite and friendly available women will make the advance because as you have found, theres a lot of (even if they are very nice people) guys that well... arent.

  • It really depends on how granular the laws get in certain areas.

    But for example indecent exposure may not be a mandatory register on the sex offenders registry, but within 200m of a school or playground is mandatory. (even if it was 2am on a sunday in the middle of the school holidays during the dead of winter.) Like the whole getting booked for drunk driving for being drunk and going to your car to get a jacket.

    There are people who are on the register who shouldnt be and people who absolutely should be who arent.

  • Michael is probably the hardest case of this too.

    Its easy not to support, discuss or enable Kevin Spacey because while he was a brilliant actor in a few movies he wasnt irreplaceable. Michael on the other hand was likely one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. He was a cultural phenomenon.

    A lot of allegations and concerning behaviors absolutely but no convictions and a lot of people who knew him who defend him absolutely. A lot of potential substance abuse or mental health issues but also a lot of financial reasons why people may have alleged things that didnt happen...

    Michael is a very grey case.

    You fire them first (probably illegally) wait for them to lawyer up and come after you in court, enter into negotiations to settle now that the employee is under financial pressure to accept.

    An employee who suffers a serious injury on the job who might have ongoing life long medical expenses can be horrifically expensive to a company often wildly exceeding a negotiated settlement.

    Its morally fucked but the company would rather cut the man a very large cheque and sever all ties than have the long term liability hanging over their heads. Sacking him first just puts a timer on it that the company can afford to wait out when the employee cant.

    Yes, its still wrong.

  • Not to downplay womens sufferage and sexism (because it was wrong) but a substantial portion of straight white women act like they have had it every bit as bad as the truly persecuted and enslaved. Like sure, your great great grandmother didnt have the right to vote, while she was sipping lemonade on the verandah of the plantation while the people her husband owned worked the fields and cleaned the house.

    You might not have been allowed to drive the car, but you got driven places you wanted to go in it.

  • I posted a few days ago about how there isnt anywhere near as much outrage about Iran as Palestine because Iran has been talking shit about death to the west and death to Israel for 40 years.

    This is the equivalent of the mouthy kid getting snotted by the schoolyard bully after running his mouth. I dont like either of them and I'm not surprised someone finally got fed up.

    That being said. When the news continually reports about the price of oil per barrel IN USD and tries to blame literally anyone but THE US for the spike in price without ever referencing that we are forced into paying for oil in the currency of the country causing the price spikes... my blood pressure does go up.

  • I will die on this hill. BBT was 6 seasons of a quality sitcom dragged out over 12. If a skilled editor went through and cut out all the filler, it would be a much better show.

Because yes, it very much could Its "Can AI be trusted with the data it needs?" because thats also a conversation about "Can the organisation that owns the AI be trusted with the data?" and "Can those people be trusted to work for the betterment of society?"

    Imagine if you had live tracking information about every car on the road nationally and could map out their typical routes. That information could be so useful in terms of traffic optimisation, planning future road developments, enhancing and expanding public transport. If you reduced the amount of driving time and miles done by a typical car annually by 10% thats effectively 10% less emissions, 10% less petrol used, 10% less tyres... you get the idea.

    Now do you trust your government, let alone a private profit seeking entity to use that data ethically to reduce consumption? Because I sure as fuck dont.

  • NGL I do love a good sports movie but those are the easiest low hanging fruit examples I can think of because you dont even need to pretend like the original didnt happen,"Our baseball team sucks AGAIN" isnt a complicated plot. You can reference the original, update the humor, have cameos and its all just fun.

    They need to stop trying to remake and reboot beloved franchises that nobody is asking to have remade. Remake fun, make it fun and let people eat popcorn.
