Fediverse is worse than Reddit. Mod abuse, admin abuse, disinformation, and people simping for literal terrorists.

  • LateStageCapitalism was already a Tankie disinformation cesspool on Reddit. Not sure why it is on .world instead of .ml or lemmygrad though.

    But generally, Lemmy mods are just users. So just like on Reddit, you'll get all the flaws of this system with tons of mod abuse. If you have opinions that other's don't like, they'll punish you for it and make up a bunch of bullshit to justify themselves.

    You mean US citizens. I've had "Americans" chime in on that as well, when I explained that for people who are not from the US, that "America" is not just the US of A but all of the Americas, and that Americans are not just people from the US either.

  • Money can buy influence. Although the multi party system in Germany inherently makes it more protected against meddling, since you'd somehow have to buy out all or at least most major parties. And with where the AfD stands it is hard to find any allies here. The FDP unsurprisingly supported Musk before this article but backpedaled hard right after.

  • I just think that when we got fascism latching on to western governments it might be a more pressing concern than climate change. Not because climate change isn't the main fucking problem, but because they will ignore it.

    Again, by that metric you should already act now, because the world is collectively ignoring it.

    Stand with whom? And do what? The majority of people don't want to have climate policies, since they'd directly affect their own personal comfort. What makes you think they'd suddenly play revoluzer? And what shitstorm do you mean? Most of the severe consequences will be way off in the future and by the time things get worse, people will align more and more with the people who promise empty shit and to deal with all the climate refugees at the borders. You'd be made an example at that point. And honestly, if you were this determined, why not do something extremistic now? If you truly believe in some sort of armed insurgence in the future, why not go and blow up some fossil fuel & high emission shit? Why wait for when things become more and more inevitable?

  • Maybe not what you and me wanted, but certainly the majority of humans on this planet. And what am I supposed to do aside from the things I've already been doing? I'm already poor, so my emissions are a fraction of that of the average person, and I vote for green candidates & parties, who have no to barely any chance to achieve anything.

    We were on our way to 3 degrees Celsius globally BEFORE all this already, which would be already devastating, so how the hell is the world now supposed to not just do better than that, but also compensate for all of the US emissions on top of that?

    No one wants to do anything, at least not enough, not what would be needed - because that would ultimately affect everyone.

  • If that's the only people using the addon, then they should adjust their extrapolation formula to account for the bias of their user base. Because like this it will only feed people's confirmation bias through literal disinformation, making content look heavily disliked even when it isn't.

  • I don't, not that much anyway. But I'm even more allergic to clickbait than I am to ads, and I run ad blockers since their invention. If I ever click on a clickbait video I feel dirty and soon after even more determined to block those channels. So I quite literally just can't.

  • And I block everyone who does, since I have no way of judging the content other than the low quality titles & thumbnails. I'm dubious about allegedly well researched content though. Lot's of people for example recommend Perun, or Kurzgesagt too, which are both awful.
