  • Cool things sell well. That's why there are many brands in Europe that sound American but aren't actually American. Philadelphia, a brand that has been around in Europe for a long time, could just as easily be from a European manufacturer, but that's not the case.

Another example: In Germany, there are countless pizza delivery services called New York Pizza or something similar. These are, of course, small local companies from Germany that have simply named themselves that way.

Due to the long, close relationship between Europe and the US, this has developed to such an extent that it is now almost impossible to tell from the brand name whether a company is European or not. Now, for obvious reasons, it is unfortunately necessary to boycott US products - which is easier said than done, because US companies own numerous former EU brands that sound European and, on the other hand, many EU companies have given their products American-sounding names.

  • They are pure evil, but a company from Switzerland.

  • Sorry, my mistake, that's right. Leibnitz is owned by Bahlsen, a German family business.

I've corrected the description in the post. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Evian is owned by Danone (Dannon in some countries), which is a multinational corporation, but one that was founded in Spain and is now headquartered in Paris.

  • It should be, but in many countries around the world, the US was long considered cool, which is why brands were named accordingly - that has changed significantly...

Edit: You know, the orange child molester who blackmails all his allies, shamelessly enriches himself, and gets away with it. The rest of the world just doesn't think that's so cool...

  • Yes, Heinz is a US brand that originally belonged to the H. J. Heinz Company and remains a US brand even after the merger with Kraft Foods, also a US company.

  • It is quite a feat to save people from embarrassment, namely from a golden abomination of trashiness, through another embarrassment such as this.

Let anyone say they don't make progress - quite the contrary: every day brings new lows.

  • No, just software that is specifically designed for this purpose, so less applications like VLC and more applications like DeaDBeeF (or MPD for multiple devices). I'm just interested in what people use.

  • That's ridiculous, even Jesus thought so.

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, "It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers."

  • That's nice. I should do that sometime.

  • One or two on their phones, but I mean the tradition of looking at pictures together and reminiscing about the past. I don't get the impression that people still do that today.

  • I don't think so.

On the one hand, digital images seem more likely to get lost or forgotten sooner or later. This seems likely to me even when they are uploaded to social media platforms—I consider it highly doubtful that these media will archive images over long periods of time.

On the other hand, they don't seem to have the same significance as physical photos: I've never actually had anyone show me pictures on a screen, but I've often had people show me photo albums while telling anecdotes from the past.

Either way, I think the way we deal with photos has changed. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

  • For example, video calls. It's remarkable how incredibly stubborn people are. I've seen several times that people have refused to participate in a call if it's not on Teams.

  • I sincerely hope that this meaningful initiative will not be undermined by employees complaining about difficult communication with other federal states, as unfortunately they all use MS.

  • No, what I'm saying is that the people that draw the marvle comics, animate them or write the plot won't make a living from that anymore for much longer. It's really as simple as that. Why? Because they make their living creative work, which is great.

But they already earn their living more from autographs at conventions than from the payment for their outstanding work. That too will soon be a thing of the past, because Marvel will not be renewing their contracts - leaving these talented people out on the street because they can no longer sign autographs if they are neither authors nor illustrators, nor animators or whater.

  • What does that add to the statement in the post? There are hundreds of thousands of such examples.

It doesn't change the statement: writers, artists, and all other creative professions are now in a much worse position than they have been ever before - and yes, disproportionate pay for even extraordinary achievements has always been been the case historically for these very important people. But with LLMs we have reached the point where it's not even enough for a dream scenario. There is no business model for this anymore.

There is no longer any money to be made because consumers do not pay for quality, but for mass and free content. The best example of this is the decline of journalism, which had always been financed mainly by advertising - this has not worked for twenty years because Google and social media platforms have completely taken over this business, which is why there is no longer any serious journalism today. It can no longer be financed because consumers cannot cover the costs, even if they wanted to, which is the case at all.

  • Yes, that's true, but until now, people could still make a decent living from scraps. That is no longer the case.

  • People paid very well in the past - although most of it publishers and the like. Still: Professionals could somewhat live from the scabs.

Today, however, all these business models are obsolete, even though they brought in billions until around the turn of the millennium.

My statement is quite simple: in the future, no one will even try the hopeless anymore, because there is not even a dream to be chased.

The conclusion is pretty obvious: there will only be AI slop, which is not even close to being a substitute for what has been lost.

There is already a term for this, which has long been a reality in many areas: Dead Internet - and this affects all industries that depend on this medium; without exception, this includes all entertainment industries that have ever existed. In other words: the entire cultural industry, which is doomed to die and is consequently dying.

  • Yes, Israeli Zionists have been playing the anti-Semitism card for decades. It is a perfidious, self-reinforcing strategy: the more completely legitimate criticism of Israel's inhumane actions is silenced with this argument, the more it feeds actual anti-Semitism.

This is supported by the Mossad's skillful intelligence work, which obviously gathered a lot of dirt on politicians around the world - there is simply no other explanation for how a small, rather insignificant state like Israel has gotten away with the most heinous atrocities for decades.

This is mainly attributable to the US, but also to Germany, my home country, where the anti-Semitism card has an even stronger effect due to its terrible past. As a German citizen with an awareness of history, it is all the more repulsive for me to see how obvious war criminals shamelessly use the Holocaust in order to commit genocide themselves.

Yet it is quite simple: Israel is not Judaism. It is a criminal but sovereign state that commits genocide. This has nothing to do with religion, but exclusively with the inhuman ruthlessness of their criminal regime.

And yes, this is also supported by the population, just as it was in the Third Reich, since Israel is also a deeply authoritarian state, but these are not "the Jews", but the citizens of a State, the citizens of Israel, a country that commits the most terrible war crimes and tries to justify them by referring to history - it is a scandal that this still works, it is a crime against their own ancestors and has absolutely nothing to do with anti-Semitism; except that it very deliberately promotes anti-Semitism in itself in order to portray Israel's actions as the views of "the Jews" - which is, of course, not at all the case.

They have even introduced absurd concepts such as the "self-hating Jew" to prevent Jews from insisting that they want nothing to do with the deeply racist, inhumane Zionism of Israel.

    It couldn't be more unscrupulous.

These people are truly the scum of the earth - and by "these people", I don't mean a religious group, as these people would like to portray it, but Netanyahu, the Israeli government, and all their henchmen.

  • The connection to Israel is becoming increasingly obvious. Ehud Barak, the former Israeli prime minister, was also involved in setting up this fascist enterprise - with the kind assistance of Jeffrey Epstein!

Many thanks also to the politicians here in Germany who first signed a completely illegal contract with these bastards and then specifically amended the police law to undermine the constitutional rights of citizens after the fact.

It really is a terrible world we live in, because no one is stopping the most unscrupulous of all people. Well, this is what the end stage of the free market economy looks like.
