  • I fell through a similar rabbit hole going from YouTube -> Spotify -> light sailing -> YouTube -> Spotify -> Nextcloud + Navidrome

I followed a pretty similar route to what you've outlined! After my discovery stints on YouTube I stumbled into premium spotify, once premium was ending I converted my entire 2.6k songs from Spotify to local copies. Setting up nextcloud and adding the nc-music plugin, with Symphonium as an android client fixed my Spotify niche quite nicely. I've rediscovered bandcamp again recently and can't wait to start actually purchasing and owning music I enjoy.

I think its also interesting to ponder ones own rules for what you'd consider ethical consumption.

  • Exclusively? Not that I know of but I think the layout is dynamic so I don't assume the normal app would be that different to operate.. But then again I've never used an android TV with my own apps,

if you find out though lmk!

  • They also have this feature, you have subscription groups!

As for recommendations, it does one big sync once then anytime you open the app it seemed to sync everything (ime at least)

That alongside being able to sync a video to my PC at the exact timestamp is very nice for living room experiences. Bonus you can have peer tube sources show up next to your yt videos

  • Cooking @lemmy.world

Where are some good places you find recipes?

  • We are more numerous than you think

  • For photos and video I use immich, which can also hook into your nextcloud and display your stuff In its own tab, as well as allowing you to directly move pics from one to the other. Its a nice gphotos alternative that suits my needs pretty well

  • What have you GOT in there, damn

  • I find the same, though I, and I hope others, use it as an "I agree/this adds to the conversation" button and downvotes exclusively as a "this doesnt add to the conversation or is misinformation" button. I also appreciate seeing the down votes rather than an aggregated score.

  • I assume the same way the steam deck gets replacement sticks. You'd replace the entire thumb cap and run a wire under and to a specific connector. So its unlikely you'll get a third party solution with capacitive touch but getting official parts shouldn't be impossible either, just more tedious.

  • Oh yes I remember that Pixar short!

  • Thank you for sharing that TED-ED talk, it was very impactful and insightful

  • I wholeheartedly agree

  • He actively wanted out as seen by the desperate text sent to his mother saying how he "felt like a hostage" that was read aloud by one of his abusers on stream, but due to coersion both financially and socially. In one of the streams his abusers openly brag about how if he doesnt participate in their "game" they'll take the keys for his car and his apartment until he does.

There's generally a lot of factors that add up to staying in an abusive situation. From his point of view its likely that there didn't seem much of an option for him outside of this.

  • I'm glad other people understand the struggles required for daily life in this respect

  • Damn, Chris Pratt? Seems like crisp rat to me, who knew Mario was such a shitter

  • I see, thanks! I'll come back and make an edit if I start having any similar issues.

  • As a fellow celete player, I'm sorry your experience was like that, but I'm also currently using hall effect sticks on both my 8bitdo ultimate and my guillikit kong 2, it feels absolutely mint on both with no tinkering. I'm gonna have to ask you to name and shame the hall effect sticks you're using, please. Thanks!

  • Thank you for your wise words, stranger. This cautionary tale will live on in my memory
