  • Are you the only Lemmy user who missed Technology Connections recent video?

  • You just said it, it's a rule for operating systems, which means that whoever ships Linux as part of an operating system has the onus of implementing this.

If you do Linux from scratch, that would be you I guess.

  • I'm soooo removed from this issue it's almost funny

  • Nah Microsoft sells cloud services

  • Is the AI mafia so powerful that it can manage to piss off every computing manufacturer in the world with total impunity?

  • It's good for viewing PDFs

  • Trump got 49.8% of the vote.

That in itself is an harrowing statistic.

  • I mean, at least Japan's fascist government would likely be a functioning one.

  • It's rather simple, they see you as sharing their same culture, so they consider you part of their tribe, while others appear to them as being too different, implying cultural friction and danger.

  • I put them in an alternating pattern, they take less space that way

  • As someone who runs Home Assistant:Fuck YAML.

  • Depends on what you print. If you want to print ABS/ASA, you'll always be making compromises, but maybe with a Voron you'll make fewer.

The comparison with commercial printers is kinda pointless, it's like asking a car enthusiast why they're tuning their car for the racetrack when they can buy one pre made, it's because they want to build one.

If you decide to build one, maybe check out the doomcube discord, lots of interesting concepts there, from tiny printers to huge ones.

  • My grandpa had a peacemaker installed, we received a (paid) bill for the cost of the operation (idk why or how, but I remember my mother showing it to me), it was 36k€. Sure the stay was shorter, but it's also heart surgery on a frail patient with lots of other issues.

  • The costs are not comparable, otherwise or healthcare systems would all be bankrupt. And here we don't have the same incentives to inflate costs.

  • They were performing there, it's work .

  • I'm fairly sure in Berlin they won't charge you two hundred thousand fucking dollars for an emergency procedure, but sure, go on strawmanning. What the hell.

  • If a tool is demonstrably indispensable to disable some browsers' functionality, is it wise for browsers to have that functionality?

  • I've got a fairly reliable tool that does the same, I keep it in the middle of my face
