  • Mine has been running flawlessly for nearly two years now. ISPs are lazy and only change things when they're forced to.

  • what protocol does the ISP use over fibre?

Any way to figure this out?

This is a good place to start. https://pon.wiki/

  • It very strongly depends on which ISP they have. There's a few that make it easy. There's a much larger number that can be hacked by a competent pc person (which I've done). There's also a small amount who have worked to make it impossible / hard to do, and don't have any public info on the process.

My ISP is att fiber, and all I had to do was change the vlan id on the outgoing side and match the ip settings to make it work. I used the guides from https://pon.wiki/ to do it, and the discord is also incredibly helpful.

Of note, this used to be impossible / very difficult so you'll still find forum posts saying it can't be done. However, a couple nerds have changed that over the past two years so make sure your info is up to date before deciding it can't be done for your specific setup.

  • That's a vague way of putting it, but I'm in basically the same boat. I got lucky with my job, and I don't hate it, and I feel that I do help with things more than I don't. I still struggle with the occasional rainy Monday, but not usually because of work. I guess that's a pretty good way of describing it.

  • You know how the grand canyon always looks kinda crazy in photos? It looks just as crazy in person and it is wild.

  • It really is always crazy to see the different perspectives. I've actually unsubscribed from a channel for the bad quality youtube put on all their 1080p videos. I'm also still eagerly awaiting the slomo guys bluray release of their greatest hits.

  • Well, that, and vhs is one of those things that is fun to play with. It's never going to be perfect, and that's enough to keep people like me coming back to see what new improvements I can make to my vhs setup this time.

  • New blurays are 30-50 each. New DVDs are 5 or less, each. Libraries usually have bigger dvd collections than bluray collections. People use what they can afford, not what is best.

  • The fediverse has been getting a rash of these types of comics designed to specifically widen the online gender divide with seemingly innocuous comics.

Make no mistake, this comic in particular is not bad, and has already engendered some good discussion. The issue is these brand new accounts posting one or two comics about how men suck, or women suck, or whatever, and then leaving.

  • I think the general consensus was that he was weird and creepy, but we didn't actually have proof that he was a pederast.

Sorta like the creepy old man in the van down by the river; nobody saw him do anything weird so he's not in jail, but everyone and their mothers makes sure he doesn't ever get any alone time with a vulnerable person.

  • It really is a great dynamic pose the artist made here.

  • You're missing the ignorant backwoods racist element. Those people are signing up for ICE right now. None of this is as simple as a single group of people causing all of the problems.

  • People are being brainwashed with crap like "calories in, calories out" or "exercise more" but that's just bullshit. It pushes the idea that too much weight comes from a personality flaw and not health issues, but yet any actual (and by that, I mean proper) doctor will quickly search for medical reasons for weight gain because there's a million of them.

Genetics affects how the caloric intake is handled. It does not change the fact that adjusting caloric intake will directly adjust how much weight is even possible to gain.

Studies concluded that the presence of these genes increases the risk of obesity but does not necessitate obesity. This risk can be ameliorated by healthy food choices, increased physical activity and avoiding other causes of obesity mentioned in this review.

  • I have used this card for a couple years.

    Pros:

    • five m.2 sata slots
    • single slot pcie, and short / not extending past top of slot
    • incredibly cheap
    • mine has been reliable
    • no extra power needed
    • no pcie bifurcation or other special motherboard features required (works in anything)
    • the individual drives do show up as individual drives in Debian for me and can be accessed separately (not a hardware raid card)

    Cons:

    • pcie 3.0x2 speed in an x16 slot (2GBps)
    • doesn't support m.2 pci
    • doesn't support booting from the installed drives

If all you're looking for is cheap, quiet, storage, and you don't mind losing out on total read/write speeds, thisll actually do great just about anywhere.

  • My chip is a couple years old and has started to cause issues on occasion with the more finicky readers. I just tap when that happens, but it's still annoying when it does.
