  • I absolutely agree, I am also a leftist but constantly stewing in political news isn't good for your head, or even in a practical sense good for your ability to go actually get involved in stuff outside. You have to take care of yourself if you want emotional energy with which to do any real political labor

    I wish we could come up with some collective strategy to create better balance cause this platform tends to share politics as common ground, and with not many people here that means a lot of what gets posted and engaged with is all just news and politics.

    And yes, I know everything is political. AND, you need to be able to step away from the politics of the world and catch your breath and be mentally well. Any one thing dominating your time and emotional energy can become unhealthy quickly, especially when its all bad news or small victories that remind you of the broken bigger picture.

    Balance is important. I'm thinking about creating a seperate account and blocking all the political communities and filtering by keywords so I can just be here for hobbies and folks chatting when I want that

    Rest of the comment aside I think this is untrue and not a good position to be arguing. We have already passed many things that people would have thought completely unthinkable, I think it is dangerous to assume it will just be obvious. We all have lives and unless we are individually targeted they will just go on- getting worse little by little, every passing day, and you will get used to it

    Regardless of where you draw your line, people will not all just innately know, people must draw their line consciously and decide when it has been crossed over

  • Hyprland is also somewhat controversial if I'm not mistaken but not like DHH or omarchy. The people running the project have had some shitty transphobic takes and generally been poorly socialized asshats at certain points or something like that. But not overt Nazis, just ignorant and shitty at times. I dunno what ended up happening with any of those issues, from what I heard they were most loudly a thing a while ago now (I don't use a standalone window manager and really haven't followed things)

    Hopefully someone can add some more context, but you should be able to research the stuff with hyprland and decide how that does or doesnt inform your choices, I think info about it should be relatively easy to find

I can't imagine that makes them any money, so is the bet just that its worth it for then to subsidize the cost of the new phone to keep you buying new ones more often? That doesnt feel like it adequately explains the practice

    Its a settler colonialist nation trying to build an ethnostate in someone else's homeland, and currently doing so by overt ethnic cleansing 😅

    If any state is a legitimate one then all you have to do to legitimize any settler colonial state is set up a government and all of a sudden you're allowed to be there and murder or displace all the other inhabitants, and any attack on you by those colonized people facing the wholesale destruction of their society can be claimed as self defense 😅

  • Yeah. Honestly I feel like if it were to be helpful the best application would probably be a mixed one, where a mod still uses and checks the inbox on the not account. So only partially automated, and only makes up some of the posted content

    And I think it'd probably also work best if the mod picked what was to cross post and it could all just be put into a que, rather than just cross posting anything and everything. That way they can select stuff that would make sense to post even if they aren't the originator: memes, articles, info-posts/guides, etc.

    It'd still be less work than manually finding a ton of stuff to post, but still be much more intentional and interactive feeling.

  • Maybe try making a post on one of the movies or shows comms (I'm not familiar with it and don't know if its a movie or a show. Though you can also just post where people are.)

    I think in some cases on the threadiverse communities just have to be more catchall, because there aren't enough people to congregate around a more specific topic. But there may be other people out there who would love to chat about that with you, even if there aren't enough for a specific community for the show

    (Apologies if youve already tried this, I just had the problem solving thought and figured I'd share. If its not helpful thats okay :)
