Supposedly, I am a human, who does very human things.

  • Oh don't worry, it isn't! Its just backed by Jeff Bezos himself.......

    Yeah......

This world sucks, and sometimes you gotta make some shitty pragmatic choices. I would judge someone harshly for a Tesla but less so for Slate given that 1. Jeff isn't so openly racist so much as being a greedy bastard of a human being, and 2. Slate is backed by him but not fully owned by him.

  • I know you arent participating in any type of revolution, so this bravado apathy building talk only hurts real people.

I know that your wanting to own the democrats is clouding your rational judgement about the only pragmatic way to turn the country around when you acknowledge that this is a 2 party system that is still currently in place and one you arent changing any time soon.

I think your idea that it will only decay the system slower is part of the problem. With enough enthusiasm and effort, it can change the course of the ship. The thing is, if you are doing campaigning for the other party, you arent helping that happen.

  • Or moving to a different area

  • You're basically asking for what slate promises to be.

Also, you totally didn't say it, but I feel like whining about it so: A lot of people think that the infotainment in cars could be stripped out to lower the price, but a big touch screen is actually very cheap and it might even be more expensive to have a bunch of bespoke buttons per model, so really, the idea of a gutted out vehicle wouldn't save any money. The only actual money savers would be in areas like the suspension, build quality, engine size, that sort of thing.

  • This could be solved so many different ways.

The most obvious is getting rid of the stupid CAFE regulations and Chicken tax that basically incentivise the fuck out of making these monstrosities.

The others are less likely to be done in a country like the USA with its 2 party system where the options are conservatism and fascist conservatism.

  • I’m trying to tell you there’s no slow process change out of this administration.

You better hope there is, because you certainly aren't going to be participating in any fast "you first" ones.

There is a slim chance that people who spend more time ensuring democrats don't get votes, bitching about them while complaining there is a solution, stopped doing that and democrats won in 2026 with sufficient margins to withstand all the bullshit levied at it.

This would of course involve things like prop 50 being in place (which passed), and thats all increasingly looking like hail mary too, all because yall wont accept anything except a perfect hail mary, which will never come.

  • Even in your comment you point out it won't be fixed in one term as if that's the expectation, but that's what I'm talking about here. It was never going to be 1, 2 or even 3 terms. Its a long, slow process.

When people don't see immediate rapid change and give up, instead waiting for it to get so bad, it gets even worse (fictional revolution thinking), this just makes the system as it is more entrenched. They'll happily keep you at bay.

  • As opposed to what? Fantasies on voting ourselves into progress?

These aren't fantasies. They're at least plausible.

Fantasies on believing some candidate is going to save us?

Beliefs that any one person can save you are part of the problem.

We all voted for Bernie in 2016.

Yeah, and you keep voting for progressive elements within the only party that is even possible to shift towards that element until you've taken them over. It takes a shit ton of time, is unfun, and wont get you anything near instant results, but its the cards you're dealt. You deal with them or don't.

We’re all voting against Trump. America is pissed. Where is our outrage supposed to be aimed at and what can we do?

Discouraging people from doing anything is the opposite of helpful though, and encouraging people is something you can do. That along with participating in more than just federal politics.

  • Part of the reason there is no hope is comments like these.

You aren't going to do that, so stop focusing on fictional power fantasies.

  • Unfortunately, at this particular point in time, its also your death sentence, and they're fine iwth that, because its not really their death sentence, whereas seeing where this is going it might literally be yours.

  • As humorous as this sounds, this is not at all how battery chemistries works.

Some chemistries just charge faster than others.

for the common types of Lion or Lipo batteries, they max out pushing 2C which is around 30 minutes.

For something like LTO, where you lose capacity/density, you can get that up to like 4C (very rough numbers here as this all depends on the temperature of the battery while charging, age and other factors).

So like... this could have been accurate if this was referring to switching to LTO, but afaik, no one makes LTO batteries in this form-factor (not that it can't be done though).

  • Way better, because it sounds more like what it is "saying something about".

I do hate headline language though.

  • This right here is why it is so important to stop spending time and energy trying to reach trump voters.

Their single voter issue is "hurting the right people" and the "right people" is you.

The people who need to be reached are the people who don't pay attention to the news.

The people who need to be supported are the local people you know affected by this, and the Democrats, because they (along with continued support whilst using primaries, local and state politics to shift them left from within), are the only pragmatic way to unfuck the situation.

  • Is that why most politicians, musicians, comedians etc, still treat it as their main platforms to get info out? Because they don't take it seriously?

The big problem is actually that they do. That social inertia works so slowly that they didn't.

That some random crypto company making Bluesky was the closest to a solution, and it looks like it will also have some power crazed person leading it.

  • Its crazy because primaries are probably the best ways to shift the party towards functioning better for your interests.

This is a new sort of self sabotage I've never seen from anyone being serious.

  • What people need to understand is that the primary goal of the old gaurd at the DNC is to guard the rich.

They also need to simultaneously understand that supporting the democrats despite that and changing them from within, is currently the only pragmatic plan of action.

  • Gotta say this difference seems very arbitrary. He bought a company, and platform. Both direct how people spend their time. A platform is obvious but a company, he directs what the people who work there work on. Its definitely a match to somewhere far past where money buys you things.

  • No, that was absolutely that. Do you not think he gained a massive amount of control with that?
