  • Mao is my fave.

    Good bait post I guess.

  • Maintenance is easier than one time sweeps. It’s hard to get off the couch and vacuum, wipe down, do dishes daily when it’s not as rewarding as seeing the change. There’s a wide variation in standards between people even within families. I have a family member who’s notorious. Their partner invited them for vacation at the family home once and went home a week early to clean. It’s a family joke.

You won’t win against cat hair. It works its way into things and you’d need tweezers and a magnifying glass.

  • Doesn’t the server need to talk to Microsoft to work? I thought they built some phone home thing.

  • The entire concept of DoorDash in a car centric part of the world is mysterious to me. If I’m too drunk or stoned to drive I just go to sleep. I’m not spending $50 on a cold Big Mac.

  • But how will the surveillance companies support themselves if that logical process is put in place?

  • Demel!

  • My screen is 2160px tall and 3840 pixels wide. If it’s at the bottom, I waste nearly 1.8 times the number of pixels.

Microsoft’s excuse about app design and layout is straight bullshit because I can make application windows any size and ratio I want.

  • Facebook app set up a local server on the iOS device that received pings when a browser loaded their tracking pixels.

I feel like that behaviour falls under my definition of spyware. I know it’s not as malicious as it could be, but still.

  • I understand the economics are challenging but it’s been a race to the bottom. There were and still are some really high quality apps, but so many trash!

  • One of the reasons that the App Store purportedly exists is to provide quality software rather than malware and spam.

I guess that goes out of the window as soon as money appears.

You can literally type the name of an app and the first three results are, if you’re lucky, competitors. More often than not they’re pure junk.

And that assumes you’re searching for an app that’s not trash… ugh.

  • I would like to listen in an armchair to cd or vinyl through a modest, though still good, stereo speaker system. But my life doesn’t include space or time for any of that.

So - almost 100% streaming, through earbuds, the car speakers, and/or HomePod. There was a time I was on Oink and then What - what put Apple Music to shame. The staff picks were eclectic and amazing and I learned a lot about new to me music styles.

I don’t like listening to music in the background in general, but dance/electronic music is good for background distraction for workouts and focus. But my preference is for classical music - Bach, Beethoven, etc. - depends on my mood. Sometimes I’m in the mood for Queen or Pink Floyd. I’m never in the mood for pop.

  • That’s an unpopular opinion that I seem to recall nearly cost the ceo of lululemon his job. But - yes. Some clothes don’t work for some people. Pump shrouds generally work for all body types. Tuck your rolls into lululemon, that way everyone can appreciate the level of obesity.

  • White space sensitive languages are evil.

  • “Overspent”

  • Isn’t Amazon one of the companies that laid off devs because ai was going to take over?

  • Education makes a tremendous difference. Americans have mentally ill people probably at the same rate as EU, but also has ignorant people and that’s where the difference is made up. If you travel 3 hrs in USA, you’ll find the same culture. If you travel 3 hrs in Europe, you’ll be in a different culture altogether.

  • Technical people don’t understand the business, you see.

  • They’re also financing the sale of said picks and shovels based on the value of the picks and shovels the purchasing company bought last week. Nvidia does have value, but the way the finances work is deeply concerning

  • Shorter theatrical release times mean I can see more back catalogue in the theatres, right?

    Right?
