  • This is what i have. Amcrest cameras tied to an Amcrest NVR which offers remote viewing, recording, and playback and then also tied into Frigate and Home Assistant also for remote viewing, event notifications, etc. I could ditch the NVR but I'd need to get a POE switch and I like having it as a backup.

  • Another popular storage solution is Gridfinity

  • Well you need three to be sure that you have one that's actually running at any given point.

  • Wouldn't be the first time. The one response that does grind my gears is the thought-terminating cliche that is "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" which is such a meaningless cop out that can be applied to literally anything and anyone at any time for any purpose.

  • And lets take a step back to see the forest for the trees and realize the destination for this energy is more AI slop with little to no use for anyone.

It's like celebrating some company deciding to use EV bulldozers to demolish the Amazon rainforest.

  • This is basically me and several people I know who all grew tired of the constant tinkering and print failures and quit using their printers almost completely before upgrading to the new crop of printers that just work (in our case Bambu) without all the fuss. I now have 3100 print hours on my X1C after about a year and a half which is probably 2-3 times the usage of my old Artillery Sidewinder after 3.5 years of ownership and tons of mods.

  • See if you can change the number of bottom layers or the bottom layer pattern to get a different result.

  • Saturnalia sounds like some sort of foodborne illness or STD.

  • I dont think anybody is arguing that only men can do X or only women can do Y, but more that X may be a more male dominated hobby or Y is more female dominated and these are the people you're going to encounter if you join local groups, or what have you. It may be awkward depending on your personality.

Take gender out of it and replace it with something like religion and it might make more sense: "if you pick up this hobby you might encounter a lot of fundamentalist Christians" which could be awkward if you're an athiest for example.

Like I'm into cars/trucks but a lot of people in the automotive hobby can be real douchebags. That doesn't stop me from enjoying the hobby but it keeps me away from a lot of meetups with strangers.

  • Every woodworker I've seen has a gigantic shop with a bunch of purpose built tools totaling between $1000 to $100k. Sure you can start out with hand tools but theyre like a gateway drug and before you know it you're looking for black Friday deals on a compound miter saw, planar, or plunge router.

  • I'm having trouble subscribing to your newsletter.

  • I wouldn't let it stop you from trying it out but OP has a point. If you enjoy making candles what are you supposed to do when you have 500 candles in your house? Finding some hobby that has a practical use is ideal because not only do you get enjoyment from crafting the thing but also additional enjoyment from seeing it put to good use.

  • He co-released a video with 404Media on this new dystopian finding today as well.
