  • We've had our cat for 14+ years now and he's the same way. Always presenting his butt to us, always sitting just nearly out of reach, doesn't like to be picked up. He does love chin and cheek scratches though and I've even managed to rub his belly a few times as he does his dramatic, drawn out leg/body stretches.

  • Its crazy how shitty they've gotten. I got one on black Friday probably 10 years ago and it didnt have and built in apps just casting from your phone. A few years later they updated it and suddenly it had apps and demanded you agree to their TOS and all that (possibly also download their Vizio app?). I didnt keep it for long after that (mostly because it was a budget ass TV with 4K but not HDR) and replaced it with an LG C3 AMOLED from Costco, which I couldn't be happier with. In our bedroom we have a TCL and I think that's where the sweet spot is with budget TVs

  • Agreed, the whole premise relies on this being murder but OP stated he died of pneumonia at the beginning of the post and fails to outline how that translates to murder. Not taking someone to the doctor isn't murder. This man could have called 911 and had an ambulance take him to the hospital and people aren't expected to be medical professionals in day to day life.

    Furthermore, we saw plenty of examples of people refuse COVID treatments as they literally lay dying in the hospital from COVID because the man on TV said it was all fake, so maybe the man refused to go.

  • Ive heard plenty of examples of elderly people getting conned into buying ITunes gift cards to pay their "delinquent taxes" but I find the thought of trying to explain the process of activating developer mode, navigating to some shady website, downloading an apk, finding the download folder, and then installing some bootleg app to a confused elderly person, over the phone on the very device they want you to do this on to be quite comical. I can't see many of these people completing even step one of that process.

    I'm sure there are malicious apps to sideload out there, but those are also all over the PlayStore too, so I don't see what this change really fixes.

  • What active scams? These scams should be pretty ubiquitous at this point if they're doing all this to "stop" them, but I've never even heard of anyone having security issues from sideloaded apps.

All those sales you see where something is "marked down 50%!" are using a manufacturers price that does exist in real life to get that 50% markdown. In reality, the sale price is just the actual price of the item but people see the "huge discount" and think they're getting a deal.
