  • This guy again.

EDIT: Can't find a proper cache and the thread was deleted by OP and not mods so it doesn't appear in the modlog, but Googling OP's username brings up a snippet of his previous small-penis humiliation kink post: https://files.catbox.moe/kgbkzb.png

This is fake. OP makes new accounts all the time and posts humiliating questions in AskLemmy and NoStupidQuestions, making everybody else non-consenting participants in his sexual kink. This is the same guy who has made posts about having small feet and an engorged belly. He is getting off on people believing his bullshit.

Admins need to ban him from the instance completely.

  • Hahaha, what a bunch of morons, sugar isn't even good for you!

    [sips sugar-free microplastic energy-slurry]

    Buncha dummies.

  • I never noticed just how well they executed this effect! The beard just sorta fades into existence, but just before the hairs become fully visible they start lightening the irises of his eyes, so that your eyes aren't looking at the beard while it's materializing. Excellent misdirection.

  • Yeah, I'm more concerned with the literal bombs he's dropping.

  • Saving this thread to my "just in case" list.

  • Thanks, and I agree. I'm not sure what grounds they have to withhold that sort of information from a lessee on. The lack of information from all angles makes it really difficult to prepare, because I have no idea what I need to be preparing for. It's been a very difficult week. :(

  • It's also a bit of a "boy who cried wolf" scenario. Yes, we should call out the wolves, but only when there are actually wolves.

  • This is fake. There are no other results for this story, and the article appears to name a minor, which news outlets generally don't do. Also, the file photo is from this story about a burglary.

  • Pretty bad. I found out recently that my roommate has been lying to me and spent the rent money I gave him on something else. He hid it from me long enough for it to be irreparable. I can't get my roommate to be honest with me, and the apartment management are refusing to share any information with me (despite me still being on the lease) and won't even accept a payment from me or even tell me what our debt is, so now I'm almost certainly going have to go to court soon to be evicted.

I'm bipolar, so usually a major event like like this would send me either into a manic or a depressive episode. But for the first time that I can recall, I've been finding myself going rapidly between the two states throughout the day.

I know I will be fine. But right now, I'm not fine.

  • PDSes and relays exist at the whim of Bluesky's corporate entity. Having all of the endpoints on the network controlled by a single agent is what makes Bluesky centralized. If Bluesky decided so, your server can be removed from their network and is functionally useless at that point. They decide who is and is not allowed to be a part of Bluesky.

For contrast, no such governing body exists with ActivityPub networks. Nobody can decide whether or not an instance should be removed from the network, they can only choose whether or not to federate with that instance. If you wanted to truly silence a Lemmy instance, for example, it would take the cooperation of all the major Lemmy admins to defederate, and is an entirely democratic process as a result.

EDIT: To clarify, ATProto is not what is centralized, "Bluesky" the platform utilizing ATProto, is what's centralized.

  • The only mainstream platform that I'm still active on would be Discord, but that's only because there's no viable alternative yet.

  • Wow, that audio is super unsettling. On its own it would seem innocuous, but with the context of trying to contact somebody in a country that's on the verge of being nuked, it's downright horrifying.

  • Back in the olden days, it was "here is my product, and this is the price, if you like it buy from this store"

When exactly are these olden days you refer to? I ask because most "modern" advertising practices have long-since been in place for over a century now; the only things that've changed are the delivery method and frequency.

  • And just whose fault IS that, Marjorie?

  • (btw: Does anyone actually enjoy theaters? 🤔)

For me, it depends on the movie. For something moody or really heavy, I'd prefer to watch it comfortably on my couch. But for cheesy action movies or something, I like the big screens and the crowds for the energy they provide.

There's also something special about theater junk food. Giant bucket of popcorn drenched in not-legally-butter, hot dogs, nachos, a gallon of Coke so that you'll definitely need to pee right when the third act starts...

  • Why a metal interior?

  • Cool stuff.
