  • Even if that's true its not odds I'd take on anything that costs money or that could be potentially dangerous.

  • I get dreams of finding items of 'nonspecific sentimentality' like I'll find a secret loft in my childhood home filled with boxes of old stuff that all feels like its my old stuff that I miss dearly but even in the dream I'll never be able to pinpoint any single item that belonged to me or that I actually miss, despite having a general feeling of nostalgia and like the childhood toy I loved is just in the next box.

It's honestly kind of creepy like some kind of sentiment/nostalgia angler fish.

  • Why not add some secondary side pools joined by underground channels with some very gentle induced flow beneath the surface? Those side pools could act like like living filters and bring some wildlife to boot.

  • That's possible but I don't see the US army being super jazzed about going full imperialism either, maybe Cuba and Mexico might be initially tolerable but the latter is liable to turn into a horrific meat grinder which the population (rightfully) has never taken well in the United States. Every other option is either culturally a US ally or very far away which is a problem because US logistics are nowhere near as overhwelming without international support, or both.

  • On the other hand how effective is the US military really? Its got a lot of fancy toys but sure did just fall flat on its face despite what should have been overwhelming advantages.

  • Been on linux full time for under a week, I'd say linux is more like."I have issue""Here's 10 extremely techincal solutions that will take you hours to work through and may not work""I still have issue""Oh yeh there's just a button you can press that fixes it instantly"

On the bright side thats more my own lack of familiarity than anything and once an issue is fixed it stays fixed and generally works a lot more cleanly than if I had a similar issue on windows where fixes are always kind of cludgey.

  • iirc the experiment was verifying that anti-matter falls downward in gravity? otherwise it still functions physically rather like time-reversed matter. Unless anti-matter is time-reversed and has reversed gravity in which case it would also seem to obey normal gravity because we would see it under the effect of anti-gravity but backwards?

  • Bed think literally already happened, some amazon smart bed or some shit that was adjustable and it would fold shut like a clam if you didn't pay the subscription so you physically couldn't sleep on it.

  • I see: Vampire squid, giant squid, goblin shark, barrel eye fish, Spider crab, Giant isopod? And what I wanna say is a pelican eel?

  • I keep hearing the AI will get cheaper to run because its only training that's expensive, but at the same time tokens cost more than employees and are still being sold at a 10 fold loss, and we apparently still need infinitely more compute to run models that can just barely do a simple job so long as you don't mind spending even more time eventually fixing their work than they supposedly saved.

  • I find that hard to believe, I recently had to uninstall co-pilot after it weaseled its way into my search bar. Its not an exageration to say that my PC literally ran cyberpunk 2077 with pathtracting better than it ran the fucking windows search bar with co-pilot.

  • But everyone loves AI, look how its use has doubled! ᴬᶠᵗᵉʳ ʷᵉ ᶠᵒʳᶜᵉᵈ ⁱᵗ ⁱⁿᵗᵒ ᵉᵛᵉʳʸᵗʰⁱⁿᵍ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵐᵃᵈᵉ ⁱᵗ ᵒᵖᵗ ᵒᵘᵗ ᵒⁿˡʸ

  • You can but you can:

    • A, Use an excessive amount of computing power to run an LLM agent to do it
    • B, Spend 5 minutes on youtube
    • C, The dev could just program in the option to skip
  • Based on those 'how it was invented' shows, innovations has historically been tied to random passionate people in sheds who then get exploited or even straight up robbed by big industry.

  • Tokens are now costing more than human workers...

  • Also at any time anyone can just step into the movie and stab the buttler themselves to win the pot.

  • Me watching every single piece of social media regurgitate right wing talking points for the last decade. No shit.

  • Close enough, lets form a secret organization around planting edible anual-crops/bushes/trees on disused public land so anyone can harvest them.

  • That depends, are you open to making rich people into soap?
