So they have the power to run a smear campaign that would alter society’s opinion on AI—which is so very useful and everyone would love it otherwise—but they don’t have the power to influence the building of billions of dollars of infrastructure to power these data centers?
The people pushing this are the people that benefit from the general populace being dumb as shit. That’s why they’re pushing it. AI doesn’t make anyone more informed or intelligent, it’s an echo chamber.
If AI is just like a video data center, why did data center energy usage stay stable before AI? Why has data center energy usage doubled since 2010 if videos and AI are equivalent in energy usage?
I wonder at which point ‘where did I leave my eggs?’ becomes a greater evolutionary pressure than ‘I need to hide my eggs’, because I’m assuming cassowaries haven’t had to worry about the latter for a while!
We have a tub/shower that has a built in shelf against the wall, and our boy loves to hop up there while we’re showering and just watch. He’s not concerned about our wellbeing at all, he just loves watching water run 😂
Thank you for this post, because now I’ve learned that a plant I grew up with and only thought of as ‘the one with little purple flowers’ is actually edible and a relative of stinging nettles. Neat!
That’s really interesting, I had no idea there was a connection to social hormones. I wonder if there’s a correlation (among catnip responders) between how social a cat is vs how they react to catnip?
I had an otherwise extremely timid near-feral cat who went VIOLENTLY insane on catnip, and our highly social boy we have now is just moderately into it, nowhere near the amount of excitement. I wonder if it’s because his social hormone receptors are already fairly activated.
That was puzzling me too! I haven’t ever moved one myself but my understanding was it’s a bit of a pain to move the loader track, so I’m not sure how the grain ended up in that pattern. You’d think if the loader was still running it would only be in a pile at the end. But I’ve also never had to deal with a mess like this.
The thing that looks like a giant pencil tip holds grain, it drops grain onto the track (thin thing that goes up into the air beside it), which carries it up and drops it into a truck to be hauled away. If you don’t turn it off when you drive away it just keeps going, even though nothing is there to catch the grain. All the tan stuff on the ground is the grain that fell out while nothing was there to catch it.
