  • Pixelfed is one I’m aware of

  • The regime cannot fail, it can only be failed. Those scientists were supposed to do their job of finding evidence for whatever possibly non-metaphorical bug RFK Jr has up his ass on a given day. 🙄

  • A space can be safe for cisgender, white feminists without being a safe space for trans women, women of color, working class women, disabled women, etc. Intersectionality is a big part of what makes ‘general’ spaces for women actually only safe or accessible for women who fit a narrow ideal of Western womanhood.

Like, ideally a feminist space would account for this, but ask a black feminist if they’re safe and welcome in every feminist space and they will probably tell you no, because many spaces center the concerns of cisgender, white, otherwise privileged women.

  • The problem is that this is not a private community, lemmy and piefed are fundamentally public spaces, not private, it is impossible and unreasonable to have a private community.

As of 1.6 Piefed does support ‘private’ (non-federating) communities that only people with certain assigned roles can invite others to: https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/releases/tag/v1.6.0

The mods of the community have the idea that it’s everyone else’s problem, that tens of thousands of people should go out of their way to remedy the issue by blocking the community just so a couple hundred (thousand?) people can have no responsibility for it.

I think it’s kind of wild to expect a community to be open to everyone or not exist at all on the fediverse, along with the idea that this is a huge burden on anyone except the mods of that community who have to clean up the comment section.

  • It’s the ultimate consequence of going all in on recruiting people from reddit, which I have been trying to tell people for years. You’re not making the fediverse better, you’re making it more reddity. There’s no point in leaving reddit while bringing the worst of the culture.

  • Piefed lists the instance of the mod/admin that performed an action, not just ‘mod’ or ‘admin’. I think if you use the Tesseract front end for Lemmy it will also show it

  • I’m sure it’s not the way the manifest is meant but as I see it: You can either have no army, which would be nice but unfortunately that’s not how this world functions.

    Costa Rica says hello.

The major part of the soldiers are people with normal lives waiting for them after finishing their duty. Do you think those people would engage in a meaningless war? Or turn against their own if someone like Trump wants them to?

Are we memory holing that the National Guard was deployed against multiple US cities within the past year?

  • I’m not reading all that because it’s clearly written by someone who has completely forgotten what grass looks like, but this bit:

National service should be a universal duty

Go to hell, you can throw me in jail before I do anything to help the military.

  • Thanks for the clarification!

  • I’m confused, in the mod log it shows a lemmy.world mod removed the post, but you made a .world account? I don’t know how to link individual mod log actions but you can see it listed as 5 hours ago at the time of my comment.

Regardless I’m glad you’re not gone! I love a Frog and Toad meme.

  • If it gives you a yardstick to measure by, they spent quite a while insisting ICE List was actually a honeypot and trying to scare the shit out of anyone that has visited the site. This was after mainstream news was already reporting on it.

  • It’s a digital fursuit, it’s gonna be okay
