  • You're completely missing the point and focusing on an individual. They're stating the moral purpose of a SOCIETY. As in the society shouldn't kill and it certainly shouldn't be ONE individuals decision for that murder to take place. YOU might have a redline/breaking point, but society wouldn't. It's why ONE person isn't the deciding factor on death, it's a societies moral choice to do that and uphold that.

You guys can pretend that EVERYONE has a breaking point, that doesn't mean you can't have a society that doesn't have the death penalty. I feel like these responses are just people trying to incite continued violence or justifying their own extremely vitriol need to kill those they deem less.

  • I guess, continued explanations of why the politics are failing in America. Average citizen, "ok he pardoned more than his son, great. Oh he believes in the dignity of human life (strange way to put it but ok). He decided to leave 3 to die? Umm ok."

It's the same shtick with the "build back america greater" infrastructure bill. It all sounds great for the media till you actually scrutinize it. "Oh you're wanting to spend how much on highspeed rail? Great! Oh, it's all going to a shady company that has the countries worse rail record and has been lining everyone's pockets financially but running a deficit since operation? umm ok?"

  • ty, just not seeing it for some reason (I meant a new meme like having a blank comment was the new cool thing to reply with lol). I'll have to figure out what's going on because it's a lot of them lately so need to see if it's images I'm not seeing from a certain instance or what.

  • idk, I find the coupon thing to be super easy. Just takes one search and maybe two clicks if you have ad blockers on. Mostly the only time is if I'm ordering something like pizza for a get together where no special applies. There's a local chain in my state that had a coupon code for half off my order that wasn't listed on their site (they might've given it to me if I called but who knows). Been using that for the past year and it allows me to convince everyone to go there instead of a national chain. I've also been lucky with some manufacturers coupons for products I'm ordering straight from them, it's more rare though so it's hit or miss sometimes.

  • It's getting worse, I can't remember who but I was watching a video just the other day and their ad segment was the fucking ltt ratchet driver. You know, the one they supposedly made because they were tired of the market and the low quality rip-offs all the companies were just trying to make profit off of (it's a shitty plastic screwdriver for 70$, link to pic and it's being sold at fucking walmart now). They sold it as such a heart string story in the beginning, it's just another mini-wannabe corporation.

I don't particularly feel bad at this point for their continued reputation downfall and the people responsible. Everyone has their own personal story of their favorite company which has turned to complete shit (Blizzard is one of mine). They didn't come out strong but doubled down corporate style when everything started. That's fine, but anyone staying and putting up with the stressful workplace knows what they've gotten themselves into.

  • Am I missing out on a new meme that everyone is in on? I keep seeing blank messages that everyone is upvoting (like the 5th one in the past few days). Is there an image that's not loading for me?

  • You're cute

  • eh, I put plenty of "or" statements in there. If you proclaim knowledge and then exclaim an ignorant claim, I'm just musing on your assuming tirade.

There is such a thing as Culinary School, you see?

  • Said someone who's never baked before, or known a baker, or have watched any culinary show. Following one simplified recipe and hope it turns out alright? You haven't learned baking as a trade. Might as well say Plumbing or Carpentry is easy. Sure they can glue two pipes together. But, can they design and implement a fully functioning DWV system that's up to code? I would rather rewire an entire house's electrical system than spend a whole day trying to figure out why I can't knead this fucking dough right.

  • Meme.

  • Do you really love or have any feeling towards your instance? I think of it more like an e-mail address than a "name" for like an apartment building or mascots/team name (probably why these posts confuse the shit out of me). My first instance had connection issues/downtime so I switched to .ml. Almost switched from them like a month ago because of slow loading times but seems to be better the past couple of weeks (this is the basics of html, I shouldn't have to "watch" it load).

I just always scroll on All (active), and sometimes subscribed if I'm feeling in the mood so I never even consider my instance unless something technical or posts like this come up. I have a couple of mobile devices that I'm never logged into that I'll pop up lemmy on from different instances (.world, .ee, etc), I actually am less likely to use an instance that advocates heavy defederation.

  • This is like listening to a drunk uncle rant about "them" after watching a tiktok video that triggered him. "The non tankie users are moving away" "tankies can behave like normal people" "tankies can be anywhere"

The admins of ml are tankies and so are a lot of the communities there

... communities like Memes? How about the most popular AskLemmy community that everyone uses? Linux, Privacy, Programmer Humor, wtf are you even talking about now? You've fully lost it with this "tankie" hate that's apparently being fueled by being on here so often. You've probably associated any/most downvotes or disagreements into this "tankie"-fantasy which is just further driving it at this point.

  • Yeah all of the lower end jobs are like this unfortunately, anything that gets pasted more than 3 times a year on indeed or any job site. Middle/management side it's like that but with 3-6 interviews instead and no guarantee of a job. Trade jobs seem to be the outlier, but harder to actually find who all is looking and for them to "legitimately" (insurance/taxes) employ you. High end is 80% networking so a lot of the ground work is already done (but still a total time/energy sink that I can't be bothered for).

  • Look, I don't know if you guys haven't been paying attention but places have been getting ravaged for decades because of what we've been doing. Everyone around me was flabbergasted with what happened in the NC western mountains. They videos were exactly like those I've been seeing in the Philippines and other countries that we just completely ignore when there's a natural disaster (maybe a 30 second blip in the media headline for 80% of it if they're in a really poor region).

The Western mountains were devastated because of the infrastructure in natural valleys and huge amounts of sediment deposited by centuries of mining those mountains out (you can see the natural rock formations that returned, lots of people know the land they built on wasn't there before it was developed). The hurricane wasn't man made, but everything fucking else about that catastrophe was because of our activity.

I don't know what the answer is, but I've been waiting for the democrat heroes to save the day since I started voting during Bush's administration that I was thoroughly against and thought our invasion of Iraq was a war crime. Now we continue to this day with a never ending war machine and a corporation first politics that hasn't ever changed. I'm all for us talking about some alternatives and pushing for everything and anything right now, not waiting to form something later to help "sway" the democrats policies (which it really didn't in the long run did it?)

  • I mean yes, that's been the playbook for 8 years. More like 16 if you count what people actually thought Obama was going to be (and had record turn out). Try, try again?

  • I just don't get why we're not training and endorsing out the next group with all this press. Sanders and Warren need to back and/or start a coalition of progressive up-and-coming leaders that they can help hone and introduce to the larger political landscape while they have the energy and influence. They need to stop being the only torch bearers and start bringing in underlings. Idc if they follow them around like a posse, might actually be better if they did. I would cuddle with Sanders all night if I could, I'm just tired of his name being the only one catching attention. The will try to bury any movement with him when his time comes, best to get ahead of it so momentum can keep going.

  • Holy shit, you just mind blasted me with a memory I had lost. That whole shit show between Bernie and Warren during a debate where she acted all fluffed and pissed off because Bernie was apparently somekind of sexist?! or at least the media and her team tried to play it that way but it completely backfired if I remember right.

  • Do you guys really believe the populist position is to "vote the Democrats out" and that Gaza was really the reason for voter apathy that effects half the population? Couldn't be messaging or effective policies being lacking, definitely blame anyone against a continually funded arsenal in the hands of aggressive governments.

  • Holy shit, a true clown-troll account made specifically because of the results of a political election. Get a fucking life or even just a singular hobby to better waste your time with.

The working class didn't come out in droves, it was the same fucking numbers. Republicans are taught at a very young age it was their duty to vote, it's ingrained in a lot of the family structure while the left/progressive stems more from active engagement and a distrust in the political system.

If you think Biden stepped down just because he was "too old", you slept through the past year. It was a valid concern and still is as the sitting administration, it's even more concerning we're about to have the oldest elected person in history in fucking 2024.

Economics hardship was already here, that's probably what pissed me off the greatest about this last election cycle. "They're going to come after us if you don't vote!" removed, hey've been coming for us, everyone is just pretending it's important now.
