Original account. i also use my discuss online account.

  • Ah yes. I am truly a thirsty knowledge bitch.

  • That's wild. I'm the complete opposite.

What industry and what country/part of the country?

I'm curious if it's a normal thing in the past decade, and they just look at me/my experience and skip all of that.

  • I've been through about 8 tech jobs in my nearing twenty years of experience. The only drug test I ever had was when I worked at a tech company for a hospital, and I declined.

Even the gov job did not require a drug test. Maybe because it wasn't federal government, or there was some loophole with contractors, or something else. I definitely had friends who had to do drug tests with government contracts.

I typically laugh at drug tests. I live in a legal state, I don't use anything, and the fact that you can take cocaine every day for a year and stop for a few days, and you'll still pass. It's stupid and I'm fortunate to be in a position where it's an extremely rare question to ask in my industry.

  • They review it during the initial interview. They just don't tell you.

In gov jobs, they want you to share it, under the guise of avoiding phishing attempts.

  • Often, young people rise to political roles because they believe they have an opportunity to change the corruption they see every day.

Then they see the shit hole of a system.

They'll wait their turn to implement the 1-2 things they pushed so passionately for. But the 99 other things, they'll shrug on.

People will shit on them. "Why didn't you care about those other 99? Why don't you care about MY PROBLEM? We hate you!"

They become jaded and suddenly, getting an easy $50k kickback from a Tech Company by simply checking YES on a policy isnt so difficult.

  • Only if they include the link.

I prefer the screenshot to a webpage because

    1. If it's a shit site, I don't want to give it clicks and revenue
    2. News sites have a history of manipulating the title over and more to maximize views
    3. Images are easy to scan within the Lemmy app. Versus kicking me to a browser that has to fetch data somewhere.
  • It's horrifying how cats will play with bugs and torture them. I have cats, and they're sadistic.

It amazes me when I see people with cats and hamsters. Because I just believe if they wanted to, that hamster would be in multiple pieces.

  • I'm so exhausted at people who answer like this.

    It makes me feel crazy.

  • His daughter coming out and him calling it the "woke-mind virus" was peak meltdown for me.

Really shows how much control he wants.

  • Seeing him mentioned in 2010-2020 media as an enlightened soul who will bring Humanity to Space is so cringe now.

He's in an episode of Rick and Morty. Granted, Rick makes jabs at Elon so it ages a bit better than most others.

  • It's pretty normal for women to call out troublesome behavior from horrible people only for it to take a decade or two before anybody listens.

    Epstein.

    Harvey Weinstein.

Bill Cosby. (Granted Hannibal Buress made it soar)

  • Thats hilarious and accurate to what I've been seeing elsewhere. Non-techies jump to windows 11, notice half their custom settings are gone and it's harder to find their stuff, then get furious and want to get off of windows.

    Keep it up Microsoft.

  • Either

    1. They're always watching. I'm in tech and was taught in my security training - when traveling to countries with extremely strong surveillance, assume you are bugged. Family could be high valued and they wanted something from the parents. Probably a bit too tinfoil hat.
    2. Vengeance girl's parents could be assholes/racist. As a dude, Ive had my share of "mommy & daddy doesn't like me for taking their precious flower". Multiplier in effect if they have a problem that I'm a PoC.
  • Id prefer if he faded to obscurity. I liked his music growing up, but fuck Ye.

How many 80s-2010s musicians do we still see in the news? When was the last time you heard about the band Sugar Ray?

Instead, I have to see this idiot pop into my feed at least once a week. The racist fuckface is also wandering around Tokyo making an album. I know about that because of these random stories on social media.

  • Reminds me of all the studies how a glass of wine also extended life that appeared nonstop in the news for the past two decades.

Which was research paid for by big Wine companies.

  • Pest problem? Use Diatomaceous earth. It's like tiny glass for bugs that rips them apart.

Poisons kill better because they bring it back to the hive. They will also poison your dog, cat, hamster, squirrels, etc.

  • And a lot of other situations with review bombing over the past decade.

  • I don't think Lemmy attracts that crowd, but I used to moderate a fine arts Facebook group and my god... The pretentious drama wars. Like two museum directors were going to strangle each other over a Rembrandt.

  • Out of all the choices, I like this the most.
