  • I mean I guess you could include fetuses, but they aren’t actually part of the mother’s body, and would already count on their own, so while “skeletons inside” is a truthful statistic to include fetuses for, they don’t add limbs so counting them seems dishonest for this one.

  • But fewer than how many fingers, is the real question (that I couldn’t actually find an answer for).

  • Statistically, a human has fewer than two arms, two legs, or two eyes.

  • Is your username a piano keyboard?

  • I’d argue rather than bailing out hardware and chip makers for their completely blatant fraud, they should be nationalized, and llm companies should just be left to fail or fined into failure for their part in the fraud. It’s not like other unrelated groups aren’t working on their own models anyway.

  • The story is that it’s mandatory for food service places and a lot of others as well.

    Not super interesting.

  • RStudio and SQL are the only ones of those things I’m aware of having experience with (no idea what language rimworld is coded in, but I’ve also only read that, not tried to modify it).

But if some dude wanted to spend a bunch of time and energy to teach me all about their burning passion language or whatever, that’d be pretty hot. Maybe not JavaScript.. ;)

Not in a “dick me down immediately” sort of way, ofc, but in a “mmmm sexy brain and sexy willingness to teach complicated stuff” sort of way. And really to me that’s a solid spring-board to “dick me down immediately” territory.

  • A fun addition to this fact is that vaginal secretions are made from modified plasma. Like that stuff in your blood.

So TECHNICALLY women don’t just bleed for their period.

  • You are 100% allowed to ask for a different therapist, and tell them honestly what about the first one didn’t work for you.

Think of them as someone you hire, like a construction contractor building a new addition for you. If they do a bad job for your needs, fire them and hire someone else, just like you would if they disregarded your hypothetical missing leg while designing the layout, and gave you lots of stairs. Stairs don’t help you, even if they might be fine or even desired for someone else, just like a therapist who would criticize you or try to gaslight you isn’t helpful to you.

It might take a few tries, but it’s definitely worth it to find the right person if it’s not the first one.

My first ever therapist was super religious, and told me that it was better for me to be bored and vaguely unhappy in my relationship than to be alone (I’m a woman so that’s not the first time I’d heard that drivel..). She also told me I need to at least be spiritual, or I’d never get over my depression (incidentally went away when the relationship did.. funny, that..) I was raised without religion, and her comment about my relationship gave me the ick, so I found a different one. And that one was a lot better.

  • It’s low, but I’m not employed, living on disability and savings, so the sooner I pay it off the better. I’d be much better off not spending my full payment every month for the mortgage.

In general you are correct though, and I’m not actually in a hurry to pay it off because I don’t have enough to do so. But if I got the bulk of it suddenly for only one day, and could pay the rest from what I already had, absolutely.

  • It’s a glorious day to be aphantasic :)

  • Is this from one of the newer seasons? I’m struggling to place that character.

  • You might want to try Ghostery. It’s similar to ublock (probably I’ve never used ublock).

It auto-denies all possible cookies, randomizes your location and fingerprinting information, and blocks ads and stuff (good for if you use pihole but need to use a public VPN for something, or mobile browsing or whatever)

I’ve never found a site it didn’t work with, tho it’s possible, I’m sure. It’s also one of the only extensions available for iOS browsers that does all the things, at least that I’ve been able to find.

  • I’d use it to pay my mortgage. That would bring me down to like $6k (bought this place a long time ago on foreclosure, so it was cheap but it’s a piece of shit place, so tradeoff). I’d then just pay the remaining 6k from savings and have zero leftover savings (but that would replenish eventually), and be done with it forever. That would feel amazing and take a lot of stress off my fixed income situation.

  • That’s fine, I don’t need you to agree with how I view place settings in works of fiction :)

But I think if you look closely enough, you’ll find there are incongruities just as a natural consequence of having this stuff translated into a format that can be shared like books and movies/tv. At a certain point you’ll have to suspend disbelief for some reason, even if it’s just to believe that all these people can afford to live where they are with the jobs they have (like friends; I haven’t seen either of your examples so I can’t comment on them). That’s the realm of fantasy worlds for me, and that example is entirely a byproduct of needing space to film. It doesn’t mean there’s magic and unicorns, but it’s like a reflection of reality in a warped mirror; close but wrong. Maybe like a parallel universe, but still not our own.

Maybe that stuff doesn’t matter to you as far as where stores are set, and that’s totally fine, but it matters to me to keep real and not real separate.

  • It can be set in the real world, but it’s a fictionalized version of the real world. It isn’t striving to be accurate, so it isn’t accurate.

To me, it doesn’t depend on the genre. If it’s not claiming to be historically or contemporaneously accurate, it’s set in a fantasy world, because aspects of it will not match reality, and that’s what’s important to me in relation to the question you asked.

  • I assume everything is set in a fantasy world unless explicitly told otherwise (eg history or science history where the focus is on accuracy with the understanding that some information needed filling in), because 99.999% of the time this is correct even if it’s supposed to be modeled after a real place or based on real events.

  • I read an article about that and apparently the change to the model made the ai stop responding to affectionate solicitations with the same sort of affectionate tone in reply. It got more businesslike, and less intimate.

  • Do you think his handlers cringed, when he did it, as hard as we do hearing it?
