  • Not a parent (hopefully someday) but an adult with a very “Dad” dad - you’ll likely find new ways to relate to your kids as their dad and, if you’re anything like mine, they’ll still love hanging out with you whenever they get the chance.

    Also if you share hobbies that’s another great thing to connect over as well when they reach adulthood. Not a requirement, but a small bonus.

  • LinkedIn can be annoying but can give you a vague sense of what to search for.

    Then once you have specific terms just throw stuff at search engines and apply directly to career pages/employer sites instead of through a job aggregator.

    It’s not foolproof but that’s how I found my current job.

  • One of the outsides gets so mad at me when it rains. It’s not just that it happened and I can make it stop (?), it’s like it’s my fault specifically that it started.

    The most ridiculous part is that she refuses to come inside despite our efforts. We’re trying!

  • I’m glad this serves as explanation for the non cat people and vindication for the cat-havers.

    What I didn’t see mentioned was grooming as a means to establish hierarchy. I’ve noticed mine have a sort of pecking order based on who grooms who. Like my momma cat will groom both her babies, and then one of those babies (grown now) grooms his sister and she’s kind of the runt/shy kitty. My other girl is not fond of being groomed by any of them as she’s much more independent.

  • Cowbee is pretty notoriously long winded and erm, prolific in their comments, if that’s who you’re talking about.

    I think China + Russia might be their special interest which would explain the level of “enthusiasm” they have at mention of either. It may also explain the repetitiveness of what they say. Not that they’re necessarily right, but they don’t seem botlike from my experience.

    There are a handful of full rabid tankie trolls over in .ml though, so if you dealt with any of those and haven’t blocked I’d recommend doing so now.

  • Musk comes from South African apartheid blood money. His grandfather moved to the country because he liked said apartheid, iirc.

    The US also suffers from an abhorrent history and current climate of racism on top of its deeply ingrained classism.

    Not sure how deliberate the choice was, but exploiting and hurting marginalized communities seems to be a honed skill of the Musk family (not counting his kids who disowned him ofc, especially his daughter)
