  • don’t the tankies not believe in those allegations? Isn’t that their whole thing, that western media is lying about it? Ie delusional like I said.

Of course they don't believe the piles of evidence. The point is they support the genocide either way. If we are changing the standard to purely what delusional people believe, not what they actually support, then there is a ton of people on the right we should stop bitching about, as they don't believe their policies are harmful either...

So, back to the original question, are you going to use a software written, or just partly written, by tankies? Or is it possible that one can use a software written by people who have differing political opinions from you?

  • Tankies widely support the destruction of the Ukrainians as a people and culture. One of the definitions of genocide. Are you going to stop using every software written, or partly written, by a tankie?

  • If you force every person to pick a team, you may not like the result. gestures at current president

People who are happy to not take a political stance on everything, particularly in their professional life, is good.

  • I’m more upset that Framework decided to support a couple of really shitty projects

The thread being centered around this would be 100% more productive than what it has devolved into. Instead people are swearing off the most notable computer company that is fervently pushing for Right to Repair and supporting open source projects. Meanwhile most every other computer company is pushing in the opposite direction...

  • They are supporting open source development. Unfortunately, not all open source developers share one's opinions.

I'll take it over alternatives any day.

  • People here are overreacting to the fact that not every open source developer shares their opinions. Framework is supporting open source development, and for that I'm damn happy.

  • Yeah, one cannot support open source development and assume everyone has the same political opinions as you.

Framework supports open source development, and for that I'm damn happy.

  • Framework is supporting open source development. That has somehow been twisted into the thread title.

  • If that is the argument, it is a pretty damning rebuke of a UBI.

Someone needs to work for housing and food to exist. If a UBI causes everyone to not work (including those producing food, etc), there will very quickly not be food and other necissities.

  • I’m sure there’s more for everyone to be up in arms about it

The frogs are tired of being boiled. Every extra bit of heat is too much.

  • Mmm, very true.

  • Jaguar as a car brand completely imploded last year. It wasn't clear if they would even make cars again.

It still isn't clear if they will be profitable at making cars.

  • Yeah, active PoE is the only kind worth buying. Passive PoE is an accident waiting to happen.

  • Clearly people didn't give enough of a shit about the PR. And clearly people weren't buying enough.

How regularly did you buy pride merch at Target? Furthermore, how regularly did you decide to shop at Target, when you weren't going to already, specifically because you can buy pride merch there? Is the answer to both 'very rarely, if ever'? Because that is the answer for most people.

  • Or it just wasn't selling well enough and the space was better taken by things that sell better. I don't believe I have ever bought a piece of pride merch at Target...

  • +1 on Mint. Ubuntu is fine, but things like Ubuntu's Snaps can cause headaches that just don't exist elsewhere.

  • It...shouldn't. The 7-segment displays will have contrast issues, then the whole thing will stop working entirely when the battery gets too low.

  • In my case, the mental math trick suggestion (make it 10 + 5) was intended as a way to build a skill using the provided, easy example. That type of mental math can be applied to much larger numbers, particularly when combined with other mental math tricks.

  • Mental math tricks are important.

Take 2 from the 7 and give it to the 8. You now have 10 + 5. Much easier math.
