Exactly. I enabled displaying the domains of every user, so I noticed that FaceDeer is on the same instance as I am and so wanted to point out this odd difference.
Maybe we should convey to new users more strongly that ActivityPub software "is like a large open place, where you can publish what you want (minus moderated content) and everyone has the ability to see everything you did".
The application was MPV. At random time it started consuming 100% of one core for a long time.
I could track it down to the clipboard thread where a loop polls Wayland to get the latest content of the clipboard (selected text). Seems like a bug in some other application spamms this clipboard buffer from time to time and so caused the MPV loop to run continously.
This way I learned about that Wayland API and as MPV can emit logs whenever the poll loop got new data, I was able to see that it fired whenever I selected text in some application.
Good to know the name of this feature; primary buffer. Now I need to find a way to disable it.
Even though I learned about Lemmy, Kbin / Mbin and co by the Reddit API drama, what got me here was that this is a decentralized open platform build with FOSS software and also kinda "by nerds for nerds".
I love music and almost every time something is playing on my headphones. If I would go deaf, then songs would continue playing in my head. And then start to decay until only broken fragments loop through my head forever and drive me insane.
Still, I would rather loose my hearing then my eyesight. But lets hope nobody here looses any of it.
I think downvotes are hidden for every Mbin instance. I don't know how it is with other software.
