  • Also why would they come for you if you are progessive and leftist? I think, here in Greece at least, it's far more likely people to be against you if you are a fascist. And I dont think Greece is much of a progressive country.🤷

    And besides all that, I think it's kinda easy to get a rough idea of people's beliefs anyways.

  • In Greece we put the currency symbol like in the image, after the numbers. But I think in many other countries they put it before the numbers🤔

  • I don't have much to add here and I haven't paid much attention if the problem gets worse (though I think freely licensed content is rather important too), but this year I found some anarchist (and in general some hard-left leaning) bands and music artists that provide their music for free and it's sooo nice, makes me want to donate to them:)

    Also as I'm learning linux I've found some open source books which is very nice of them too.

    I suppose I have to somehow rent a server or rent physical rooms across my continent to put my servers (and buy internet connection for each location) to maintain a network. Plus set up the network. Isnt that too complicated? Is there any easier solution?😅

  • Yeah, (among others) I really want to learn git to sync dotfiles and the nixos configs

    (Hopefully I'll probably have tranitioned to nixos in a few months. If I get good enough and somehow build a nas, I might use nixos instead of debian in the server too.)

    I think codeberg is for me in my case. (Btw, I barely know git, I'm gonna read a guide today.) I really like foss, so I will probably create foss stuff.

    I really want to make a nas in the future, so I might host my own forgejo instance locally and possibly keep a backup on a cloud storage provider (bought 2tb lifetime on filen). I have somewhat big plans for my nas, but I don't know what I'll eventually do😆

    So far I barely use git, so I probably dont need to rent a cloud server. Thanks again though:)

  • Quick question: forgejo is the git program that you can install self host a git server, while codeberg is probably the biggest forgejo-kind git server that is open to the public, right?

    I dont have a home server to host forgejo (yet?), so I'm thinking of making an account on codeberg, is that correct reasoning?

  • Ay, thanks for answering! I need some help understanding this😅

    there is usually only one of nixos and home manager options (sometimes there are duplicates).

    This means usually I only have to add options only in home.nix or configuration.nix, not both. (What about options in flakes.nix? Should I search those on the flakes/options tab?)

    As for flakes I mostly use it to handle a bunch of different systems from one config and any flake specific configs.

    Would it be the same if I put the system packages in flakes.nix instead of configuration.nix? Will it have a different result? Will I have to write them differently?

    Extra questions:

    1. Does putting a package in home.nix have the same version control flakes provides?
    2. Once I enabled home-manager, I saw that in ~/.config/nixos a flakes.nix and a home.nix files appeared. I already have a flake.nix and a home.nix files in my etc/nixos directory. What's going on?
    3. Does putting packages in configuration.nix use the version control flakes provide?
