  • I've discovered this once on my own, I had a complex control remapper and that I had been evolving into a horrific bash hydra of hacks over many years. I briefly tried to get it working when I switched to Wayland. I don't remember which component broke me, but it went something like this:

"Hey, I wonder why doesn't this thing work in Wayland. I wonder if I can whip up a pale imitation."10 minutes of stack overflow searches later..."Oh... oh no."

  • We eventually stopped buying toys for our cats. One cat's favorite toy is dried leaves. The other can't get enough of twist ties twisted into a loop

  • I gaggled at this.

  • My old ring is in a box ready to go to electronics resell/recycling. Maybe it needs a meeting with my friend Sledge before it goes out, so it can't hurt anyone again.

  • You should lock any app which you don’t want casual users on your phone to access.

children notwithstanding, what other users are people letting use their phone? No one uses my devices but me.

  • Neither of our cats seem to have the catnip liking gene, but they still go out of their mind for churu.

  • This is the first place my imagination went too.

  • Hey, a chance to pull this one I made back in the loop-meme-crossover days out of retirement

  • I really appreciated that the crew of Martok's ship eventually came to accept Alexander and see him as a good luck charm. Every screw up meant a victory in battle.

  • DS9 was my favorite era for Worf and Alexander.

  • Yeah, I hadn't really considered writing an integration but this is more general purpose than my universal remote.

  • My hope is that I can use custom sentences to send values to a script or service that, in-turn, will trigger an appdaemon app where I can do all the work in python. I'm not sure about returning the calculated value as a response though.

That's how I built my harmony hub replacement.

  • It worked for Microsoft. The month after they started to force install Teams in windows they published user numbers showing how teams had sprinted ahead of Slack by that metric, and the tech press mostly ate it up.

  • It being dumb was a selling point. I've wanted to dump it for ages but my wife used it (mainly for timers and unit conversions) somewhat frequently. But as someone who spends most of her day dealing with problems caused by LLM slop, she refuses to ever use them herself.

I also promised I'd do my best to get Home Assistant Voice set up so it can do math and unit conversions (sans Truthiness engine).

  • I convinced my wife this was coming a few months ago and its what finally convinced her we needed to drop Prime and Alexa.

  • Back in the day, episode 2 made me realize I didn't like Star Wars that much, I just really loved Empire.

  • So far on my work computer I've had a policy to indiscriminately uninstall anything that says copilot. If I hadn't seen this post I may have nuked it, then spent the afternoon trying to figure out where excel went.

  • Then stop being a slopmonger.

  • I scrolled to this late in its loop and at first I thought Pike had a beep for rice wine.
