  • There is water at the bottom of cetacean opsUnder the water, transport the water

  • Proprietary tech with no existing laws telling the companies they have to keep supporting it, all so I can make a rich person richer? Where do I sign up?

  • That looks really fun!

This is one of the first "adult" movie I ever got to see in theaters. My back hurts.

  • A FOSS alternative would likely be missing or have meh performance from many of the streamers. All the big ones use proprietary codecs that are expensive annual licenses. And even then the streamer controls what various access methods are allowed to see and at what quality. I think netflix still limits web browsers to 720p, for example. And straight web access isn't great, you want an interface that can ideally be controlled with about 6 - 8 buttons (4 directions, OK, and Back are the minimum) which might require API access to these services, which introduces more access control. Netflix (and maybe others) even have hardware installed at the ISP level that give them a lot of control over individual access as well.

Basically for a full featured FOSS service you'd need to start with getting grants to buy to codec licenses, and then you'd need to hire people just to maintain your relationship with the streaming services to stay in their good graces while they know you're working against their bottom line.

  • I shouldn't admit to seeing myself in this picture, right?

  • There's the Prime universe, the Mirror universe, the Kelvin Universe, and the Store Brand universe.

  • As of now I'm deciding that the Rozhenkos are from Vinci, Tuscany

Worf, son of Mogh, House of Martok, son of Sergey, House of Rozhenko, bane to the Duras family, slayer of Gowron da Vinci

  • Like most Shakespeare villains, Ted Cruz has a single redeeming quality. And it's that he both understands and vehemently supports free speech.

  • In all my watching of DS9 I never clocked that I am older than Gabriel Bell. Come on Trek, you couldn't make him born in the 70s? He still could have done right by those people and been old enough to see Alien in the theaters.

  • Klingons took one look at geese and saw kindred spirits. Geese took one look at Klingons and said "pass the Gagh."

  • He also makes Alt Scottish History Fantasy.

  • I don't know if motion animation is the same as other types of films, but for most of the industry you need box office sales to be double of the film budget for it to be considered profitable. Mainly due to marketing budgets and the huge percentage of profit that theaters get for the first few weeks of a film's release.

  • cite its sources

Just so you know, an LLM isn't capable of actually citing its sources properly, that's not how vector engines work. When you ask it to do so, one (or more thread) spits out what ever the algebra says is the best answer, then another thread tries to best fit that output to some article in its database. If the first thread was fully committing plagiarism, then the link is accurate. If it "reasoned" anything then it may not be.

  • I inherited my grandfather's letter opener. He made it, that's why we hung on to it.

It really does make opening envelopes easier and more satisfying. Plus it keep the envelope mostly intact to it makes a good storage sleeve. Given that most things that come in envelopes (that aren't junk) are things we have to hang on to (like tax records), it's handy. Also my grandfather put a good edge on it, so it's our best package opener too.

  • I always think of a teacher I had in the 90's who had very strong opinions on the matter and wanted us all to abide by them. He was very soft-spoken but he would raise his voice a bit if we pronounced it wrong: "Day-ta is a name, dah-ta is information!"

The other time he raised his voice was to yell at a student, "Fire is not an element!!!" (we were talking about the periodic table at the time)

  • I like to think Q and the Emissary are still having boxing matches. Rope-a-dope is a real challenge when you exist non-temporally.

  • Maybe that's where our timeline split. If Blue Oyster Cult had a lute in Don't Fear The Reaper...

  • Is it weird that I hope David Warner was also puppeting/voicing The Count?

  • That's how I felt for the first half of TNG and the first couple episodes of DS9. But Armin Shimerman, Aron Eisenberg, and Max Grodenchik brought so much depth to the Ferengi that it became a real joy to see plots focus on them.
