  • Linux year of the desktop for sure now!

  • Unpitted DO have pits, and pitted have NO pits.

Sounds so backwards. The problem is they're referring to the verb of the word "pit", meaning "removing the pit". So "unpitted" means "not removing the pit". So dumb.

  • My guess is it came about because people were using it to mean "something so bad it fills you with awe". Like "the thing humans are doing to the environment are awful". But then it lost its connection to awe.

    That's my guess.

  • No that's different. A contronym is where the same single word has two opposing meaning. OP is asking for two separate words that sounds like they should be opposites but actually have the same meaning, like flammable and inflammable which both mean "can catch on fire".

  • Very cool!

  • He can't install a vm

  • Honestly i think it's quite possible that earth actually is rare on that regard. Most planets are majorly more uniform than earth. Conditions have to be juuuuuust right for a single planet to have water that exists in all 3 forms at the same time on different areas of the planet. That fact alone creates 4 of the 6 boxes.

  • iirc I've heard about this device from memes for a few years now. Is it actually coming to market or is it vaporware?

  • Like what kind of clubs?

  • Does it have to be a change for the better?

  • There is such a thing as evil. No one is ever 100% evil or 100% good, but that doesn't mean evil doesn't exist.

  • And don't forget that a big part of the shuttle sucking was caused by the military who forced nasa to make major design changes so that the shuttle could fulfill military tasks. Tasks which the shuttle never even wound up being used for because the military simply created their own separate rockets to do those tasks.

  • It's more than that. The thought of us doing something incredible like establishing a permanent moon base feels more depressing than inspiring these days because enshitification will be baked into it right from the planning stages

  • Hah exactly

  • That's what people have said, but when you look at the objects being replicated on the show you see that it isn't true.
