    This is an ENORMOUSLY important ruling. When everybody was getting all excited about SCOTUS giving Trump full immunity, there were reasons to remain optimistic.

    There had never been guide rails on the presidency before, and for the first time, guide rails were installed, when SCOTUS said he had immunity for OFFICIAL acts. That's a really important qualifier, especially considering there were NO rules before.

    So what are "Official" acts? It seems obvious that the ONLY Official acts would be the presidential responsibilities as outlined in the Constitution. By using the qualifier "Official," they are drawing a clear line between official and unofficial duties. He has immunity for Official things, but not for anything outside of his "Official" duties. This judge has stated specifically that paying hush money, and engaging in a cover-up, are not "subsumed" (included/ covered) in Presidential Immunity. He is making a clear distinction between Official and Unofficial acts, with unofficial acts, such as crimes, not covered.

    This is the first time that a judge has said that the president doesn't have full immunity for EVERYTHING, especially criminal behavior. The importance of this cannot be overstated. This means he doesn't have immunity for ANY of his criminal activities.

    This corrupt, treasonous pedophile is criming all over the place thinking he is protected by immunity, and his lawyers are equally stupid, so he just keeps digging a deeper hole for himself, and that's where he will ultimately end up.

  • 18 months ago, nobody knew what the Democratic Socialists were. Mamdani's election, and his subsequent success, has energized them. A month ago, 30% of Democrats aligned with the DSA. Two weeks ago, a new poll put the number above 50%.

    In the Midterms, we are going to see many DemSocs win, and Socialists will start taking over the Democratic Party, the way the Tea Party/ MAGA took over the Republicans.

    THIS is what revolution looks like in America. It occurs slowly, over the course of several election cycles, but it is inexorable, and it will happen. We just have to ignore those who want to see us destroy the nation they despise, for their own sick entertainment.

  • Hegseth isn't Trump. MAGA is a classic Cult of Personality, and it is ALL about Trump. Once he assumes room temperature, MAGA is finished.

    Some of his followers, especially the politicians, will try to keep it going, but 90% of street level MAGAs were on board because of Trump, and once he's gone, their interest in politics will wane. None of his henchmen or children will be acceptable, even though there will be many who will claim to be his chosen, or logical, successor, but NONE of them will attract the Trumper.

    Besides, MAGA is down to less than 30%. It will be far lower after Trump croaks. Even if they could rally around a MAGA candidate, there won't be the support. And of all the MAGA figures, the guy that helped Trump break his America First promise definitely won't be the guy. Neither will Vance. Rubio has the only shot, because he still has non-MAGA creds, but he will also be tainted with MAGA, so it won't work.

  • This is the argument I've always had about nuclear energy. Sure it works great in other countries, but in America the plants will be built by corporations whose ONLY priority is profit, and they will cut corner after corner, and legally bribe government regulators to do nothing about it, until it fails. It is inevitable, and we ALL know it, which is why nobody really advocates too hard for nuclear power in America. We all know how fucked up it would be.

  • For the most part, there's nothing to boycott yet. Showing up to council meetings by the dozens, imploring them to say No to the data centers they've already been bribed to accept, is the same action, done preemptively. Boycotts come later, when the data centers are actually open.

    I'm aware that some are already operational, but they are a fraction of what these predators want to build.

    Right now, the move is to let them know that we don't want this, and there will be consequences for supporting data centers. Then vote them out in the next election, and make it very vocal why.

    And in small towns and counties, where the council members also operate businesses, those businesses need to be boycotted. You don't get to inflict existential damage on this town and it's citizens, without feeling retribution for it. I hope your bribe was fat enough to sustain you after your business crashes, because that's the choice you made.
