  • The problem with brave is that the CEO is a very bad person, the company also give me sketchy vibes with the crypto stuff they push

  • Oh right, i forgor about that, then i correct myself: Valve didn't give to developers tools to add DRM until 2008

  • be noted that steam added DRM in 2008 and DRM exist since '90s, one of the first companies to use it was Nintendo, before the 2000 the USA made the DMCA (i think?) 2001, 2003 and 2004 the EU also passed some law about copyright protection(and maybe DRM?) in the early and mid 2008 many companies before valve started to also use DRM (see Spore, assasin's creed, etc etc) during the later 2008 and early 2009 DRM was also added by EA, Ubisoft and Atari, alonside Valve

  • Put your phone away! Listen to your elders!

    That's enough reason to not listen you, the fact that you are old doesn't make you smarter, wiser or more worthy of respect

  • Yeah, that's the main problem with that idea sadly, the third neutral gender is a good one too but it's hard to pull off something decent...that's the problem with forcing a change on a language .-.

  • The @ is just a fancy a, so i don't think it's a good idea, generally i don't think it's a good idea to use any letter or symbol that doesn't match at all our languages, it just feel to forced and most of those "solutions" include a group but exclude another big group: people with dyslexia, but also those with dysorthographia at times;

    My take is: we ditch one of the 2 genres and we have only one, or we add a thirdy one with a nicer sound than shit like -x, -ə or -u which is kinda hard tbh, maybe we can take a letter from some other alphabet?

  • I'd prefer an open source solution too, but tbh, there are other (more lazy) ways for the publisher, like sharing the APIs specifications so the people can make their own server, i hope that the EU will take the open source approach tho

  • The artwork and music is usually on the client side (and if it's not, the programmers need to get good lmao) so it's really not a problem

    But in many of these cases they’re saying open source it so volunteer group XYZ can host a server and keep the game alive

    open source refers to a computer program in which the source code is available to the general public for usage, modification from its original design, and publication of their version (fork) back to the community(copied 1:1 from wikipedia, i was too lazy to write it myself)

    So no, open source don't mean that a specific group keeps the server game alive by hosting a server but that the server code is aviable to the public to do whatever they want;

    Another solution is making the code Source-available (like some companies already do: eg Mojang) or just distributing a copy of the server for people to use, without being open sourc

  • Btw, you may be interessed in that: some people are developing a new open source web browser from scratch, it's called LadyBird, it didn't released yet tho

  • The music/artwork thing is usually not a problem since the license can just not cover art like many open source licenses already do

  • It's been ages since I've last tried Brave, so I really want to know. I may actually try and use it as backup chromium-based browser if that's the case

    It's good if you don't mind the CEO being an evil idiot, he is anti-lgbtq+

  • It was 16 years ago

  • If you can make a multiplayer game over the internet, you can make a multiplayer LAN mode or even share the server implementation or give API specifications to allow the community to make their server software

  • It didn't made me more produvtive but it for sure made me save a LOT of time writing boilerplate code

  • I mean, there is still no rollback if you don't spend a lot of extra bucks for that feature

  • That wouldn't make sense, like, you couldn't do a lot of things because od that...

  • It's stil easy you just narrow down, "will be any number between 2 and 30" ok sure, "will be any number between 14 and 20", "will be 16 and 18" yep, it's def 17

  • You can make a random number generator and start reading the numbers, if you can say them, you are right, easy, you don't even need to think at that point
