  • What are your Homelab goals for 2025?

    1. Install Comms box in office.
    2. Get Unifi switch.
    3. Run Cat6A to all rooms of house.
    4. Consolidate NUC and N100's fewer devices.
    5. Install 2x U6 Wall units. 6 Begin scoping Surveillance cameras. Torn between Synology and Unifi.

  • I've done BYO TrueNas and unraid and eventually went for a pair of 8 Bay Synology NAS for bulletproof hardware and ootb working backups, replication etc.

    I run containers on machines that also use the NFS storage supplied by them.

  • The U6LR is amazing but overkill. I use one to cover the house and hdnano to mesh with a uap-ac in an external building.

    I use a MoCo bridge and two U6LRs to cover 1km of farmland.

  • What's a library?

    A library is basically just a folder or collection of folders you want to apply flows or rules to.

    Should I add one library per TV Show?

    I do one for Movies, one for Shows, one for Anime.

    There are example flows, I would use one of those and just modify the options to suit your purpose if you are not a power user.

  • If that's what you are doing there is definitely heaps more you can do with casaOS.

    The apps are basically docker made easy and it has a lot of connections that are hidden behind ease of use menus.

    What do you think you are missing out of aside from more explicit controls?

  • Just reading through the steps there is a lot to get set up and sharing. You may need to consider simplification to on board more people. Looks like it could be put into a Docker container for setup. Did you want a hand with that?
