Usually a lurker.Maybe I should've just shut up and thought for a bit longer before writing that comment...

If you want to talk to me elsewhere, you know how to reach me.

  • Were sold by epicc to some other company.Still doing their regular job and not went to shit.

    • A user
  • I never said I am not using it.But that feels like it's a compromise to keep using it as native as possible. If it was just for research purposes, accessing archive.org would suffice.

  • You still use Reddit in some capacity.

Or would you deny watching a movie just because you watched it on your local Jellyfin folder instead of watching it on Netflix or the cinema?

  • According to LTTs WAN show it involves not only brands but also flight controllers and motors. You'd need a domestically (or at least non-chinese) produced controller and motors.

  • Since they can't get parts as they are banned.

  • People will do anything to use Reddit instead of just letting go.

  • Too dangerous for me.Too much room for error.

  • For META this is a pit.

  • Don't use them.Very easy to pick SMR HDDs by accident. You don't want those inside a NAS.

  • Set it up on my uGreen DXP4800+The most unpleasant thing was to configure the LED health indicator and learning how it works.

  • Regarding NAS loudness volume: I can give you some advice as mine is in my bedroom.Choose quiet drives. I deployed 4x Toshiba N300 15TB He HDDsin RaidZ2Maybe mod the drive cages: Use something like sticly velcro strips (soft side) on all sides that HDD/caddies touch the caddy and case/chassie.Move your intensive access times to late night (4am for example) or when you are at work/gone from home.Use a soft surface. I have placed the NAS on soft foam from packing materials to reduce vibrations.

    Happy storing :)

  • Cooking on Sunday feeds me on Monday. Maybe even Tuesday

Something simple is done on Tuesday/WednesdayOr something moderate for 2 daysSame for Thursday/Friday

Saturday is usually the one-off day.

We neither have the space nor the want to eat a meal 5x for a week.

  • I hope you believe in reincarnation :)

  • If it's encrypted how should I know?

  • Imagine having to back up 50Tb to S3 :pNot everyone has a symmetric connection.

  • The tape drive costs more or less 2000€ (without VAT), the tapes cost about 80-100 for a 15tb drive (and compressed capacity doesnt count as the to be backed up data is probably not just a database or text.

Don't think there are much economic options beside finding the cheapest S3 storage or a secondary backup server.

  • Companies (e.g. HP, Dell, Lenovo) will still buy PCs. The individual like you and me will be a drop in a bucket as big as the whole ocean.

  • Isnt some AI bro hoarding a fuckton of CPUs because there arent enough servers to put them into?

  • One step ahead.
