I've seen this take a lot that anyone can master anything if they just try long enough. People cam get good at many things, but we don't all progress at the same rate. Nature and nurture both have very important contributions to make.
There have been men who have worked at composing their whole lives who never got as good as Mozart by the time he was twenty. Maybe they didn't try hard enough?

One way to improve safety would be better training of car drivers and possibly include other forms of motorized transportation. I'm not sure how regulated scooters are in BC.

Was she turning from the left side or middle of the lane with a turn indicator on? Hopefully, we'll get more details. Obviously, you shouldn't just pass a stopped vehicle on the left side at full speed, indicator or not. You need to slow down and figure out what they're doing. If they're on the right side of their lane, then maybe you think they're pulled over and are not expecting them to suddenly go left.
