  • Why? Seems like a reasonable amount. In the boxes i used there was place for i believe 80 tips so when i had to pipet something in a 96well plate with multiple components that where not able to be mixed before i sometimes got through multiple boxes in a single session. (And yes i wish i had a digital multi pipet but even then it would not have alwqys been possible to use it.

  • Can't read the whole article due to paywall. Here are 2 thoughts for the half that i did read.

    • colorectal cancer makes a lot of sense as a target. it still is one of the most cancers with the highest mortality. At the same time we saw an uptick in colorectal cancer rates in young people (reason unknown, maybe microplastics maybe something else.). Furthemore colorectal cancer seems to be a great target for immunsystem modulating therapy. There was a paper 3 years bake in I think the NEJM where they put 18/18 (exact N not sure) patients in remission with PD-1 modulation which also activates the immun system.
    • Astra Zeneca (I believe) is also working on a mRNA vaccine for cancer that is quite far along. They are targeting melanoma in remission and reduced reoccurence of melanoma or metastasis after 3 years by 50%. So it seems like mRNA cancer vaccines will be a strong pillar for future cancer treatements.

Sadly we saw in the past that russia sometimes bolsters their numbers for medication efficency. I hope it is not the case this time but i hope that the phase 2/3 trials will be very transparent to quench any doubts.

  • Because i think that my Clipboard is also not secure. There are so many applications that prefill when they detect something in your clipboard that i prefer to skip this step.

  • In germany it is called W, pronounced [veː], non of that doubl bullshit, just it's own letter.

  • 8.5 is 21cm, 47cm would he 18.5 inches. I really hope he didn't have 18.5 inches, that would not stab my cervix but my heart.

  • It's obviously some smoothed Z-DNA

  • Actually the immuncompromised status makes me think of toxoplasmosis, these yellow cotton like atrophy can be seen in ocular toxoplasmosis. But not an eye doctor so what do I know.

Edit: on 2nd thought i think it might be virus, herpes zoster to be specific. Ocular herpes zoster is rare but immuncompromised makes it much more likely.

  • In Germany you essentialy have the choice between a debit card or a Girocard, why anyone would choose a Girocard instead of a debit card is a real headscratcher for me. So many disadvantages for only a few advantages. Especially if you consider that many banks without a debit card also have fees just for having an existing account and often times you can‘t even get money from every atm without fees. So while i underdzanf your points i don‘t think taking a credit card is US centric at all, it is just the superior card.

  • Yes, all I2P addresses are only available from within the I2P network.

  • Iirc DDG had a feature that allowed you to save its settings without cookies as a url. So you might be able to bookmark it with ai disabled and then it should also work in Librewolf

  • Yeah seems to be that self built is a viable alternative, currently looking with PCpartpicker what i am planning to buy unfortunately the N100 MBs are not on there.

  • I read some more about it and yeah ZFS seems like a great solution. Do you happen to know how easy it is to upgrade storage with ZFS? E.g. i start with just 2x4TB but later I add another 2x4TB, would that be easy or would this result in a total rebuild?

  • Is that viable? I read that doing it with proxmox can be problematic because it doesn't offer such great NAS and Raid options out of the box, making it harder to maintain.

  • I was also thinking about getting a DAS but found several opinions that recommended against it because the hardware RAID is more expensive and software raid with DAS is supposed to be a PITA.

  • Ahh okay, nice to hear. I will think about using both.

  • Did you connect the expansion drive via USB or how are you doing that? AFAIK the G3 only supports 2.5 HDDs which are not available with 10Tb, are they?

  • I will use the server for photos, videos, backups from my PC via borg and as a media server so i wanted to start with approximately 6TB. Budget without the harddrives is under 500€, currently looking at a refurbished optiplex 3060 with an Intel I3-8100T as a miniPC for server usage and then some used NAS system from Terramaster. Do you mean building a multibay NAS myself? I looked into it and it didn't seem really cheaper compared to buying used/refurbished.

  • Ahh i see your point, okay i will probably start with something easy then.

  • Is it really that much data? I mean I can't seed faster than my upload speed anyways and that is a lot lower than 1gigabit so i don't quite see how the network will get saturated.
