  • Protesting in the US has been completely neutered in the wake of the civil rights movement.

    We can technically "protest," just like we can technically say our opinions, but only with a permit in designated protest zones at designated protest times out of the eyelines and profit operations of those being protested, making American protest completely non-disruptive, which is a non-sequitur.

    A protest must be disruptive, or it is closer to masturbation than protest.

    After the fall of slavery and Jim Crow, our capitalists learned something: it's easier to give the slaves the illusion of freedom with social wedge choices and irrelevant protest than it is to put chains on our ankles or instituting direct dictates outlining our servitude to our capitalists.

    If they just make us poorly educated by starving public education and therefore largely incapable of critical thinking, they can work us to death for almost nothing, then let us die in the streets after we're too broken to be of use to their profit, all the while telling us to look at our fellow slaves that look different or act different through their for profit media and tell us it's each other's faults and to hate one another. "Are immigrants/homeless/minorities/leftists stealing your prosperity? More after these commercial messages, you stupid fucking peasants! Remember, don't look up!"

    Divide and profit. Way easier than mowing down dissenters with tanks, just turn their fellow slaves against them if they speak up. "Herp derp why do you hate freedom?!"

She spent weeks before Trump was inaugurated making calls to prevent AOC's committee leadership bid. There's the DNC's priorities.

    In order for anything to improve, rather than voting for the speed of decline as we have for 50 years, this system must be destroyed by force, as both parties are completely captured and would rather lose elections then lose their respective corpo bribe gravy trains. Until that happens, or until climate change does it for us when it's too late for civilization entirely in a couple decades, nothing can improve.

    I don't consider ribbons and affirmations to be tangible improvements either. I consider universal access to quality education, commons like parks and public transit, medical care, food, and shelter to be improvements. Those are all pipedreams under the Fascists and the Neoliberals. The signature "achievement" 9f Democrats for the last half century they won't stop crowing about was a heritage foundation conceived plan to further enshrine for profit health insurer vulture capitalists into healthcare, and it's worked exactly as intended.

    There's no one to vote for here. That's not allowed. Only against in the culture battles meant to keep us at each other's throats. This place is lost.
