  • Yeah. It's carved to be vilified, which is hypocritical not just because there are other equivalent harms we allow young people to pursue for pleasure, there are several considerably more harmful harms we allow young people to pursue for pleasure.

    All because an old newspaper magnate's paper pulp business interests were threatened by hemp and it became tradition.

    You can cause severe brain damage and kill people with alcohol, tobacco, and concussions. The studies I've seen about Marijuana in teens handwring over <5 IQ points with chronic use.

    It's inconsistent to the extreme.

  • It's not realistic or even reasonable to avoid all pleasurable activities that come with risks, which weed falls under, until an entire third of your life is over, no.

    We let people under 25 play contact sports, drink alcohol, and consume large quantities of sugar, all indulgences potentially more detrimental to the body than Marijuana.

    Look at all the research on contact sports and the massive risks they bring, it's weird to me those are still legal for kids.

    They vote for him because they firmly feeeeeel that gubmit is holding their rugged individualism back and needs to be destroyed.

    Of course their throats would be coughing up blood from all the screaming the millisecond one of the government services they don't appreciate or even realize they receive all day every day stopped happening.

    But having abandoned, or never having had, basic critical thinking and reasoning skills, they'd just blame all the out groups they despise for the consequences of their own votes.

  • We literally spend most of our lives fighting over fancy pieces of paper we're deluded into valuing more than one another, talk about a waste of time.

    The unexamined life is not worth living. In the US at least, we are discouraged from asking the questions that can provide us some semblance of meaning based on what we actually value during our brief existence, because considering the big questions about the nature of being distract us from collecting more fancy pieces of paper for the master's next penis shaped space rocket.

    IMHO, the ability to ask and really feel the importance of why is precisely what makes our existence more meaningful than an ant's. Rejecting philosophical inquiry and living a life of mindless acquisition and gluttony makes one about as sapient as said ant. You're just following someone else's script, and that someone usually has an agenda of maximizing your productivity and consumption with that script, so your life is more their life to spend than yours to experience at that point.

    They were simply easy marks our education system intentionally failed to teach critical thinking and reason to because obedient laborers don't need that, and were then spoonfed sensationalist lies that appealed to their fears and anxieties, the easiest avenues for indoctrination, for the last half century under the guise of being "news" for the private profit of private shareholders and to turn them into useful idiot dependable votes for those same private shareholders to effectively capture their regulators and government that was once meant to protect us from them.

    As just one in an ocean of examples, Fox "News" has been telling these poor sad bastards that "man made climate change is a hoax for scientists to sell books!"

    I want him to die of a heart attack on the toilet or in prison, though I doubt the second one is possible because rich asshole.

    Assassinations make martyrs. I want his base to get tired of worshipping a feeble old man and move on.

    What I DON'T want is him being elevated as the Republican mascot on t-shirts and signs as the defacto symbol of their idiocy for the rest of MY life. When this cycle is over, I really don't want to have to see his orange clown asshole face again, let alone as the newest iteration of the confederate battle/don't tread on me flag they wave around town to be annoying for the next century.

    Let him be forgotten and fade into obscurity. It's what he wouldn't want the most.
