  • From a user perspective, they're not much different. Both share the same technology and the same content, talking to each other freely. You can view Lemmy content on PieFed and vice versa. Collectively, they're all (together with Kbin/Mbin) called the Threadiverse.

PieFed experience is more curated, both on user level and globally. It allows you to quickly customize your feed, but it also makes some big global decisions for you - like blocking right-wing media on purely ideological grounds, on a software level (i.e. on all instances, aka servers). PieFed also has a few nice-to-have features Lemmy doesn't.

Lemmy is more of a wild west, a raw and less curated experience. All moderation here is instance-based, and you can do anything you want as long as it agrees with the instance rules. There are less cool features here, but also more freedom and decentralization.

Overall, there's no harm trying both and seeing what you like best.

  • Okay I never realized you can put @ in a username for some reason??

  • Nice! Yes, I mostly mean sound clarity

  • Good bot

  • Jesus cries vs Jesus Christ

Like, when things are so bad even Jesus is mourning it.

  • A source spoken to by Kommersant suggests that the lawsuits are merely the beginning of a crackdown on foreign-made online games within Russia, a move which would likely redound at least somewhat to the benefit of homegrown games.

Not much. Russian gamers are mostly technically literate and either pirate their games, Russian or not, or use the roundabout ways to pay for their games abroad. Many also associate Russian games with slop, although that's not universally true.

  • Thanks!

  • How's the sound quality?

  • Nice

Always feels like you won this life

  • Something might be wrong about your settings. The last post is 6 days ago!

  • It doesn't :(

  • Fair enough

  • Congrats on pulling yourself together and going for it, no matter what!

It's good that you did it, and I believe in you. I only ask the original comment author not to dismiss the ways others are dealing with the problem. If novel research can help it, it's good!

obligatory consult your medical specialist and don't consume random drugs without prescription, this will end badly

  • "Less calories in, more calories out" is a technically true, but deceptively simplistic approach.

There are many variables affecting the outcome.

    • Some people have hormonal/neurological/mental health issues affecting appetite
    • Some others can't have significant physical activity due to disabilities or other factors
    • Some bodies store more energy as fat and release less energy during physical activity, leading to easier weight gains and tougher weight loss
    • Some people require more sleep, while some others struggle with sleep deprivation, affecting appetite and metabolism again
    • etc.

All of these things are treated differently. In many cases, maintaining calorie deficit without addressing underlying issues is either practically impossible or damaging for individual's health.

  • She means the US

  • True as in "the current state of the world"

Wrong as in "it should be so"

The article shows she means the latter.
