  • Chicken bathed in chlorine, meat filled to the brink with antibiotics and now also crops containing waste from the petrochemical industry? Glad to know what's on the average plate in Texas, don't mind me enjoying a lab-grown piece of meat for which every component has been accounted for.

  • Assuming the V22 doesn't dump itself on your lawn of course. 😋

  • But, but.. Botanically speaking neither strawberries nor raspberries are actual berries. Fun fact: grapes are, so that makes any regular wine a berry wine.

  • Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

  • If only my airways wouldn't clamp up tight and my skin wouldn't start flaking, itching and basically falling apart after a session like that. ☹️

  • And don't forget the US will again get to decide to arbitrarily discard any nuclear agreements, which is of course another great incentive for Iran to not start a military nuclear program.

  • Lemmy is the only social media platform where I have an account. No Facebook, no Reddit, no LinkedIn, etc. From time to time I do read a post on Reddit, when it comes up in search results. When you have an obscure gaming or Linux issue, Reddit can (unfortunately) still be a treasure trove.

  • The blue of the dress is pretty obvious

It really isn't to me. Even knowing the true colour I still cannot see the blue in this picture, it's perfectly white for me. Guess my brain is wired wrong. ☹️

    Edit: happy cake day!

  • Oh yes, time for a the Wizard of Oz reboot. Might as well bring out the stimulants and toxic make-up while they are at it.

  • Can Determined Exterminators become vassals? I thought they didn't do stuff like diplomacy with anything but their own kind?

  • Imagine you're a GitHub employee tasked with leaving a nice message for the 1 billionth repo. Seeing that counter tick towards that joyful moment, anticipation builds.

What would it be? The next Linux display manager? Something as impactful as Docker or Kubernetes? The early beginnings of a radical new OS?

Nope, it turns out to be shit. 💩

  • In the Netherlands we stopped adding fluoride to the drinking water decades ago, amongst others because of a dramatic increase in reported migraines and bowel issues during the period we did add it. Stopping fluoridation didn't cause any dental Armageddon, so it is definitely possible to get rid of it without adverse effects.

However, and here lies the issue I suspect, we actually have decent dental care, brushing your teeth is ingrained from early on and almost every toothpaste contains fluoride.

  • Ah, I almost forgot it was officially called Max, they kept the brand 'HBO Max' here. During the rebrand they found out we already had a public broadcaster called 'Omroep MAX', which is often shortened to just MAX in the names of their programs. Trying to claim that name would probably have not gone well for HBO.

  • Are you telling me we are filled with an industrial-strength solvent? 😱

  • Onscreen instructions unclear, pressed Shift+6+X. Still stuck in Nano.

  • Ah, Wacky Wheels. Played that so much with my little brother. Good memories.

Give DOSBox-X a try btw. DOSBox development became pretty stagnant unfortunately.

  • Giving the car oxygen due to smoke inhalation.

Don't you just love it when they shine those puppy-eyed headlights at you afterwards?

  • From what I read that actually wasn't true , at least not for the 'you wouldn't steal a car' (or more officially: 'Piracy. It's a crime.') clip.

  • You know what works?

    A container.

    (...)

    Runs anywhere

In theory: yes. In practice: not always. Last week I've started debugging an image which in fact does not run everywhere. I've deployed it on 3 different systems, same Docker command, same Docker version, 3 different outcomes.
