Im learning to make edm visuals on tiktok using primarily Blender. r.EndTimes on ig/rednote, etc.

  • Its annoying but I also like it, you get different viewpoints and if you look at the feeds the focusses are usually different, like one might have mostly news and trailers, the other mostly discussions on questions, there are like 10 different shows movies tv communities

  • I think the verifcation question might trip ppl up, just not used to needing one or it being an actual answer, or copying and pasting for it, I signed up for a few and each time I felt like I was doing it wrong

  • I liked it a few years ago but they made it worse every update til it became near unusable, I used the spot where the put answers to hold a community so I can browse multiple at once like tabs

  • Its so nice tho, all the alternative front ends are fire, I like all the ios apps, I prefer it to reddits garbage, they made it worse every update down to forcing answers to take up a tab in the last one

  • Sidenote, Feditext has become my favorite iphone app for Friendica, Mastodon, and Pleroma (supports misskey/sharkey too but I dint have an instance) I tried fedicat and metatext, fedicat is my least favorite with one menu/page for every single feed/profile/notification options. Metatext is sinilar to feditext but lacks some discoveribility features. Like that we're getting more apps that support multiple apps.

  • Ton of alternate frontends mentioned here, I like phtn.app, you can loginto multiple accounts from different instances, tesseract is also nice.

  • Its either there or in the indiviudal post/comment settings, I think I added showing the buttons there since I prefer that to gestures

  • Settings for each individual user, easy to change, goto settings and theres one long menu item that says individual feed settings, then its just toggling show upvotes/downvotes on, some instances had it off by default

  • It just didn't feel right using a ui ive used for reddit, still felt like I was using reddit (which is what I wanted at first, but now I want it to look different because it feels different)

  • I've had the least issues with voyager, its the fastest and least buggy ive used, but also the least customizable, just works tho which is nice

  • I enjoy customization more than using stuff sometimes, so I'm really enjoying all the options these apps have, voyagers got relatively less customization but I like that too, kinda like both extremes of heavy customization and being forced to use a certain ui thats been optimized.

  • I tried it for a while, but it left the rotation, I barely checked the customization options on that one tho, ill give it another try, when I had media not shwoing up or working on the other apps it still worked in Arctic everytime.

  • I was swapping back and forth between that and mlem for a while, I like the custom interaction bar in mlem. Feels nice to finetune, but voyager just works and has plenty of settings to get the necessary customizations. I like that the issue for me is that they are all good, so I just end up using them all.

  • I just started using phtn.app on desktop, saw it on a lemmy comment recently, supports multiple account login, havent tried tesseract on desktop, was setting up a friendica, but got lazy (like how you see comments along with the post on the feed, but you gotta manually sub to everything)

  • I like how the thunder app shows what update the instances you are logged into are on, lemmy.world is so far behind the others lol
